I've heard of this theory. If true it would explain some of the mayhem here on Earth. We're full of malware.

I'd like to think if we are some sort of simulation we aren't running on Windows...

Not only "Format" but the use of "C:" as well.

Not sure that proving the Universe is a computer simulation would have any meaning for the average person. Now if it could be use to answer profound question like the existence or not of God or tomorrow's lottery number all bets are off.

If it could be proved the our universe is just a simulation, then wouldn't the person running the simulation be God? lol

It seems to me that if we're "in" a computer simulation and we run a computer simulation to "prove" we're "in" a simulation wouldn't the outcome of the test be influenced, if not predetermined, by the parameters of the simulation we're "in"?

Exactly... the only way to prove you are in a fishbowl would be to find some way to get outside of the fishbowl.

IF we are part of a simulation, there is no way we could prove it. The entity running the simulation would have to let us know OR it would have to fail/shut down.

Anything we do or simulate inside of the simulation would always be suspect.

Not necsessary so. All we have to is simulate an obvious impossible situation such as reversing the motion of the earth around the sun.

Except that the fact that we think it is impossible is apparently a function of the simulation we're "in".

Anything we do if we're "in" a simulation proves nothing other than the simulation we're "in" had sufficient parameters to allow us to do it.
