Is there a way to stop on-demand channels from recording?

On our HR44 with the new GUI, we have a scheduled recording for a show on the Food Network (231), with "All" as the option. If I look at the details of the series, it says it is recording from 231, but many episodes from 1231 (the on-demand version) also get recorded. My wife hates these as she can't fast-forward through the opening ads and intros, though there are no ads once the program starts. It's a problem because this show is on a LOT and we have it set to keep 10 episodes, so the 231 recordings get edged out.

With the old UI, I had a choice between "All channels" and a specific one, but in the new UI I can't see a way to restrict the recordings to 231 only. I can't even tell it that I don't "get" 1231. Am I out of luck here?

Doesn't changing the ALL to FIRST RUN solve that problem? For the shows I've recorded and used FIRST RUN, it doesn't use the OnDemand channel.

Maybe, maybe not. I was getting them constantly, every day. I got the new update a couple weeks ago and I haven't seen what you're seeing. I do see recordings that I didn't schedule but they aren't VOD programs. What SW are you on?

I set my recordings for First Run and until the last update I was getting the VOD recordings of the same program I set for First Run. Not sure that's stopped but I haven't noticed any since that update.

How are you selecting the programs to record? From Smart Search or from the Guide? When I select to record a series from the search I get all channels and it includes on demand, but if I select record from the Guide then it only records on that channel. From the search you have to look at up-coming episodes and pick one on a the channel you want to record.

Doesn't setting up a recording from the program guide prevent this from occurring? When I don't know when something will be on, I do a search of it. But, I don't set the recording from the result of the search. I look to see exactly when the first episode is airing on the channel on which I want to record the program and then go to that time/channel in the program guide and set the season pass (or whatever it's currently called). I haven't had this problem since I started setting my recordings this way.

I don't want first run only. Thanks for the guide tip - I will try that.

I set my recordings as you do and I'm still seeing recordings I haven't programmed. This started after an NR a few months ago.

Doesn't solve the problem. That's how I set recordings and I still see programs I haven't recorded. I'm on the latest NR.

I still get those occasionally too. But, I no longer see shows that I have programmed being recorded on a channel other than the one that I intended.

The Late Show keeps showing recording made at odd hours on odd channels. I do have the latest update. I haven't seen any VOD recordings since I got the update. Don't record much these days.

Some of my wife’s shows on Bravo do this. It’s like they add a season of something on demand, then that entire season tries downloading AT THE SAME TIME. Yup all 12 episodes or whatever all start at once on a disk based system. Try to delete it in process and the system freezes. After being frozen for 20 minutes, it automatically reboots all by itself.

Uh yeah I don’t think the HR44 has the horsepower to download and delete 12 things at once all while maintaining its 5 tuner system.

Upon reboot you can cancel it before all of them begin.

For a long time, the tip about recording from the guide worked. But over the last month or so, the on-demand shows have returned, which my wife finds annoying. I will try to set up the recording again.

Aww, these...people...can't fix anything. Or won't. Problem is, we care and we are anomalies. You think Joe Sixpack cares? That's who D* seems to focus on.

I still get the occasional Premier League program recording on an RSN I don't get.
