There is a (unfortunately old) DirecTV RCA DRD420RE receiver and I am wondering if there is any support available for that model. By that I mean questions such as, would one be able to connect it to an older or newer satellite dish and receive coverage? Would DirecTV support subscriptions? Would previous Access Cards still function? Would the Program Guide function and be available (or could channel information at least be downloaded)?

    Thank you.

Even if it works today it will stop working later this year. Recycle it, it has no value anymore.

They won't do new activations for SD receivers anymore except in very limited circumstances.

The DRD420RE doesn't support the APG, so it won't work at all.

Now here's the part you're going to hate, if you kept it activated you would have been eligible for a free swap to the D12 back in 2013 when they shutdown the MPG data stream, and it would have made you eligible for a free swap to a HD receiver whenever your market is targetted for the MPEG4 conversion.

If he had kept it activated he would have been paying $84/year for the last five years. You can buy an owned H24/H25 a lot cheaper than $400+ !!
