Solid Signal is excellent. I ordered my HR24-500 through them. The DVR was delivered two days later, and it was activated on my MRV Network ten minutes after I took it out of the box. :)

When my (2) new DirecTivos arrive I am going to move my HR24-500s to different locations and eliminate a couple of PsOS.

Be forewarned as this just happened to me, if you receiver dies after buying it from Solid Signal, Direct TV will replace it with any HR they have. They do seem to give you a comparable hard drive but no other promises.

I just had a HR23 that I bought from solid signal die and they sent me a HR22 replacement. I think this is very poor practice on DirecTV's part. I can see buying a new one from them that they do not specify a specific model, but when getting a replacement it should be the same model especially when you go to the trouble of buying one from an external source.

They maybe replacing 24's with 24's. And if you have anything other than a 24 it may be a roll of the dice.

H24/HR24's are replaced with H/24HR24's. HR20's are replaced with HR20's if OTA is required. And because of the way the H25 is designed, I would assume that H25's are replaced with H25's. Other than that, it's a roll of the dice.

In this situation you should probably consider yourself, by most reports the 23's are the absolute worst of the bunch...:(
