I'd recommend trying with native set to off and set the output on the HR24 to 1080i and see how the picture looks to you. If you're happy with it just leave it that way and don't mess around with native, IMHO it makes channel changing so slow since the HR24 and your TV need to resync everytime the resolution changes.

My TV is 720. Native is now off and set to 720 stretch. The problem is gone and the picture is fine. Would the picture be better on 1080i?

I would even go so far as to set your "stretch" to "pillar". It won't do anything but make the content you see play as it should be played.

Then again, some don't mind using "stretch".

The HR23 had duplicate channels,HD an SD now they are gone.I hate watching TV that doesn't fill up the 60" screen.

That's an option they added (or was it there all the time) in the display section to hide SD duplicates.

The hide SD duplicates was always there. They somewhat recently added the option to hide HD duplicates. The latter was done for subscribers in MPEG-4 markets that were receiving HD receivers, but did not have HD service.

Is there a setting to get them back? Also if i set the resolution to 720 pillar will i still get programs that will not fill up the screen?

You can unhide them using the same steps you take to hide tem.

If you set things to 720p Pillar Box then SD programs will have black or grey boxes to the left and right. If you set things to 720p Stretch then all programs will fill the screen, except those that were pillar boxed at the broadcast end.

Change "Guide HD Channels" to "Show All Channels"

One more question. The HR24 came with an HDMI cable. Should i switch it out or is the one from the HR23 ok?
