I bet if the OP would have come and said how much he loved his DTV receivers and how great the install went the "Paragraph Police" wouldn't have said a thing

I'm not the paragraph police but if you state a negative comment about someone not being able to speak English, and you can't write legible.
That's like the pot calling the kettle black.

To Grydlok it may be long but it defiantly IS legible. If this is all you have to gripe about your life must be boring.

Any way if you, devaska1, can get a HR24 you WILL be more than happy I have 2 they are the best that D* has to offer I have had a few different models over the 14 years I have been with D*. Good Luck.

Gryd in reference to my comment about the installer not speaking limited English, I was just expressing my frustration about not being able to communicate with him. He's drilling holes in my roof and walls wouldn't it be best if we understood each other. And by the way it's legibly not legible, just kidding really I understand that my initial post rambled and was too long! I was just trying to convey my frustrations. It's cool that there's such a knowledgeable community like this for SAT users. Thanks

Oh and to all you installers who don't speak perfect English I apologize, I really wasn't trying to be mean or negative just relaying my personal experience.

Hey hilmar2k I did time the response times from the remote to DVR and it's always at least 7 secs sometimes 9! This still seems long to me. Thanks

Well Dimitar came and took the HR22 away and left me with an HR24, and wow the difference in response times is drastic. Guide response is 2 to 4 seconds compared to the HR22. I've rescheduled most of my recordings and hopefully the playback is lag, pixelation free. He also added MRV for me it's working great so far.

Yes its Common for Directv to give out used/refurbished equipment to new customers and Existing customer's sometimes its new,

In regards to the Missed appoint Directv gives a $ 50.00 credit..

Example if the Appointment was in between 9-12 and no one calls you that they will be coming Call directv @12:04 example.

Be on that phone to get the credit call the Customer retention department to get it.

Just updating my previous post, recordings on the HR24 are flawless, no artifacts, jitters, nothing but pure viewing bliss. I am amazed at how bad the HR22 was, i just wish I had called customer service earlier. Thanks to this forum and it's users I feel so much more informed.

So now that I have an HR24-100 DVR and everything in my D* world is for the moment perfect, I am wondering why D* would risk pissing off, or even potentially losing new customers by giving them used equipment. Is it a supply issue with the HR24's, or is D* just hedging it's bets and praying that only so many subs get bum/bad refurbished equipment.
It can't be cheap for them to send out techs and troubleshoot/replace refurbished equipment. Although, I'm not sure on what scale this is happening within the D* community.
Using my own recent experiences as an example. I was excited to get D*, and aggravated when things didn't go as i expected regarding the installation and equipment issues. Even though I ended up being completely satisfied with the resolution to all aforementioned issues, I am wondering how the average consumer/subscriber fares when dealing with problems like i have in the past few weeks? After all not everyone has access to this forum and it's members knowledge base. Just sayin...

It nothing really wrong with the older models outside of speed. People just tend to get stuck on stupid every time a newer model arrives. It was the same issue when Directv went from HR20's to HR21's. Nobody wanted the new one because it didn't have OTA. As soon as the HR25 comes out nobody going to want the HR24 and the HR25 my have a 800gig hard drive but 400gig reserved for PPV.
