Nah, I know how it feels to see your favorite hockey team lose. The Red Wings were real good at losing back in the 80s. ;)

Just don't talk Lions football. :D

AM21 arrived at noon PST (probably the earliest FedEx delivery I have seen here). Time to go play!

I'm 2500 miles away from my HR21, so assuming the AM21 arrives, I won't be able to hook it up until the weekend.

I had the same issue before the AM21 was hooked up.

I'm thinking USB to fibre optic extenders are the only route to go 2,500 miles. (and use separate power cords.) :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

Initial setup was done on 0x81F8, and it went off without a hitch.

Mine didn't get here until after 4:00 and the HR21 had already received the push before I got here to hook it up. All went smoothly with the hookup and the setup. It's working great. Exactly 77% on all channels. Don't forget about entering the zip code numbers even if they show up during the setup.

All setup, and I posted my observations and one or two issues in the Issues thread, because I had no idea where else it should go! :p

    My install and # 1000 post!! :D

When I got home and walked into the living room the HR21 was on step 2 of 2 of a reboot. I asked my wife if the power had been out and she said no. It turns out it was a new software push.

I opened the box and took a couple pictures of the unit (below). A small issue I noticed when removing the protective plastic on the top is that the plastic was stuck between the top and front of the case. It took a couple of minutes to dig it out with a fingernail.

I followed the simple instructions in the manual and posted here and had no issues with setup at all. After set up and HR21 start up, it immediately went into antenna set up mode. I did notice it hung at 42% and 44% when downloading the OTA guide data but was finished in less then five minutes.

I did notice that all signals but one reported 77%.

I finished the set up and checked all the OTA channels. It detected all the same channels that my HR20 has.

A couple of the spanish digital channels did not appear when I selected them even though they show a 77 signal strength (KRMT-DT 41-1 and KCEC-DT 51-1). These same channels do not show up on my HR20 either. I am pretty sure it is a station PSIP issue and not necessarly a DirecTV issue. For me it is no big deal because I would lock out these channels anyway.

I also see the channel banner display issue that others have reported (no display of selected channel).

Thats all for now. No show stopper issues to report. It seems to work exactly like the HR20 tuner and pulls in all the low power Denver channels. It will get a real workout since it is on the main family room TV.

Thanks for the opportunity to test this out. I will report any issues I notice and let me/us know of any additional tests that need to be done with this receiver.

BTW the before and after pictures below are out of order, but I bet you figured that out!
