    I don't think he was very active in the last few years, at least in media. He voiced Papa Smurf in the movies, but for me, Papa Smurf is always going to be Don Messick.

    A remarkably talented guy, but not one that I was interested in only because I wasn't interested in that kind of an act.

    Last time I saw him on TV was at least a decade and a half ago when he was comparing Johnny Carson to David Letterman, and he said what made Carson special was that Carson saw it as his job to make the guest look good, whereas Letterman and some others try to show the guest up. He said he would look forward to his appearances on Carson because he knew no matter how his bit went, Carson would be behind him all the way.
