Wait, Dish charges YOU $16 to send THEIR equipment back to THEM...LOL...and these companies wonder why people are dropping them as fast as they can find alternatives!

LNBs, seriously? I doubt they get many of those returned.

The funny thing was I did send mine back, then when I took the dish itself to electronic recycle the lady recognized right away that it was missing, they weren’t going to take it because ... no electronics. She was nice though and took it anyway.

We dropped Directv in the Summer of 2017 and have used Sling ever since. I love it. I hve the Blue + 4 extra pack and it's about $44 a month. DVR works great and service has been rock solid. It doesn't have Discovery channels but I can live without.

Strange that Dish wants pretty much everything back, do they really refurbish and re-use remotes and LNBs? I sure wouldn't want a "pre-owned" remote no matter how well it was supposedly cleaned...yuck!

Well received an email today to return the equipment and of the 7 receivers I have they only want back 2:
    HR44-500
    C41W-100
    which was pretty much expected

So far SlingTV has worked well as Sunday football was a big test day for me. RedZone was good but prefer Andrew Siciliano (minor detail) on DTV's version. One thing that is kind of a downer for streaming is the delay in the stream v. tv time v. realtime when it comes to sports. For instance, when on DTV service the feed would be faster than a game tracker on ESPNs website for fantasy football purposes. Slings slower than the game tracker so if you are paying attention to that you will know what has happened before it is on the TV. OTA is faster than all of them FWIW. I normally have one TV on whatever OTA game is on at a given time now and RedZone on another. Monday Night Football I just wont pay attention to any game tracker stuff. Might not bug many as it is a minor inconvenience so the only thing is live sports etc is the biggest downfall. Other than that it has worked to my expectations and will probably go ahead and pay the 2 month ahead of time and get the free Roku as I figure it is still alot cheaper than what I was paying w/ DTV. It will get me through most of the football season as well with RedZone. Interested to see if the Roku is faster in streaming delays than the Firestick I am using currently. Sling is the only one I have trialed thus far and was my first choice as I have 2 slingboxes from years past and have not had a bad experience with the company in prior years. Hope this helps any of those looking at Sling on what my experience has been thus far.

I just canceled 10 minutes ago.The rep told me to take my boxes to the U.P.S store and my account # to return them.I ask her if i needed to pull the access cards from the boxes and send them back through the mail. She told me to just leave them in the boxes. Does that sound right? I know Directv use to send small cards in the mail for you to put your card in to mail back to the card dept. I guess i will get a email explaining how they do it now?

They sent me an email to print out. It was a shipping label and it was paid for by them.
It is pretty simple to do this process. Yes, leave the access card in each receiver.
This was the case in March of this year.

Thanks jimmie57! I had replaced boxes over the years but they never wanted the boxes back.I guess they were to old. It is a sad day for me i have been with Directv since 1994 but the rep tried but just couldn't get me down to where i needed to be.I am going with 1 of the streaming services but i guess i will try them 1 at a time to see what we like. Thank you for your help!

If you are interested in the latest movies to rent try Vudu. I plan on using them for 4K movies instead of upgrading to Directv 4K. There are no monthly fees and they usually get the latest movies first. Plus they have a lot of free (with ads) videos (TV and movies) to watch.

VUDU has very good video and audio quality. I use it for all my 4k movie rentals. I have a 4k laser projector with a 7.2.4 ATMOS system in my home theater and the latest movie rentals on VUDU are 4k HDR with ATMOS audio...as close to blu-ray 4k ATMOS as I have ever seen from streaming. At $5.99 per rental you can’t beat it. I seriously don’t even understand how DirecTV can continue to get away with gouging their subscribers $10.99 for the few 4k rentals they offer.

One thing to be careful with VUDU they do not support HDR on all devices

They normally only want the receivers and the smart card in them back.
If it did not specify, you could call them or just don't send them.
Of course since you left, they are no good for anything else.

Wow, I've been seriously consider cancelling DirecTv ever since they started mucking up the DVR software. Right now I have recorded programs that just disappear and I have to reboot the machine to get them back. I am going to look into Sling TV, I don't have a FIOS option and the local Cable company isn't the most reliable. The sucky part is I've been with Dave since 2000, so 18 years. I am so accustom to the channel numbers and what programming I get that moving on is going to hurt. I already have NetFlix and Hulu but I like to watch the normal networks as well. Oh well, time to look into Sling TV to see what it offers.

I canceled on Friday last week.I have been using OTA and Netfix and Amazon Prime.Have the DT's from no live tv beside OTA.Upgrading my Uverse 18 meg internet.(Fastest in my area.) To Spectrum 200 meg internet tomorrow. I am going to go with Youtube Tv $40 and Philo $16 for $56 per month. That will save me a crap load of $$$.I was with Directv since 1994 it was so hard to let it go but they just could not get the price down to where i needed it to be.I will miss them change is rough but i knew it was time to move on. Good luck to you!

I would suggest test driving PSVue as well. The PSVue app is available on all the mainstream streaming devices. I tried Hulu, Sling, DTVNow, and YouTube TV and in my area for my requirements and viewing habits PSVue was the best of them.

They sent me a return label and a bag over a week ago. I managed to put the Genie, receiver, two remotes and whatever else in the bag and then I went to the UPS Store and dropped it off. It's been a week since I sent it. Will I get some kind of confirmation that they received the equipment?

I didn't. I called them and asked if there were any charges for equipment on my account. Did that again a month later. They did not charge me.
