Just Curious Will DishAnywhere .com
Still Work When Satellite is Out???
Has anybody tried this???
DishAnywhere will work for the "Live Stream" channels that bypass the Hopper and for DVR programming on your Hopper with no satellite signal to the Hopper.
So you mean it will work for Live TV am I Correct???
Yes. The "Live TV" streams come directly from the sources, not from your Hopper as the other programming does.
I think the better question to ask is "Will your internet still be up during the weather event " ?
Yes my internet should still be up; has long has there's NO "Power Outage" I will have Xfinity for My Internet.
I have had more Xfinity outages than power outages. Hopefully your area does better.
I don't know just what circumstances DBSviewer is thinking of, but his DA will still work for the "Live TV" streams even if both the Hopper Internet and power are down. Only Internet at the DA device is needed. The DVR feature won't work of course...
In my area, power outages are the starting point of Xfinity outages. Xfinity can't fix their plant until the power company repair crews button up and leave. The same happens with most of the wireless service in my area. The customer service people will assure that there are battery backups, but when the lights go out, the broadband/wireless often goes with them.
Thanks A Bunch; NYDutch
I just had an old laptop that has an native 1920 x 1080
display and and HDMI output updated to Windows 10
Just for that Situation when satellite is down.
We have been using laptops since before we moved to KC in 2018. My infrastructure weaknesses are
1. Google fiber (probably power dependent as long as the fiber is still on the pole)
2. Electric company (although my internet stuff is on UPS's.)
3. Verizon wireless (again, probably electric dependency)
