and they told me that since I ALREADY CANCELLED, there was nothing that they could do for me.. NOTHING AT ALL.

this was after I was told to "CALL BACK LATER FOR A DEAL"...well make up my mind..

I was told that I needed to re-signup and then they would talk to me about a deal..

Make sure you answer the phone, even if you don't recognize the number on your caller id!

I tried calling over the weekend, and was offered $5.00 a month off my bill for 6 months. On the second call, I was offered $75.00 worth of discounts over 6 months. The third phone call, was $60.00 in credits. I decided to wait until the normal weekday business hours, and today the CSR from the "premium save team" only wanted me to say that I was considering cancelling my Sunday Ticket, which I've had since the first year it was offered, and immediately gave me the free Superfan with $20.00 credits for 6 months. He asked if I was considering cancelling the package, I told him no. He then re-phrased his question, asking if I was calling to cancel my Sunday Ticket, and I got the hint, and said yes. He then laughed and told me that was all he needed to hear. This is why I love Directv, and anyone who has problems with customer service need only call back to get the resolution you need.

But what if its the guy from "SCREAM" & he asks "Who was the killer in "Friday The 13th" ?

That question really does trip up alot of people.

You could trying signing up for it but have it set up as installments. Then call back and say you changed your mind and you can't really afford it. That would put the rep in a position to make a save attempt or keep you from canceling Sunday Ticket. Remember Sunday Ticket is Directv's bread and butter. I'm pretty sure Directv runs a report and tracks which reps or canceling Sunday Ticket the most. So I would think the reps would have an interest in keeping their cancels low. I work in customer service myself and for monitoring/QA purposes the customer has to show intent/an interest to cancel before the retention rep can make a save offer.

So I called a few days in a row. I heard a few times that because I started calling in August vs July the deal is not as good. I also heard that because I didn't have ST for the last few years the deal is not as good.

    I finally got ST plus SF for 5 X $39.99 ($20 off p/mo) plus the full $100 SF. HD access free for a year (-$10 X 12).

I figure the total cost is $180

I checked my bill yesterday and I had a charge for superfan. Back in June, I called and got the $10 credit for 6 months and free superfan to keep ST (they also threw in the HD extra pack for 6 months free). I called yesterday to get this fix and got transfered to retention. When I explained what happened to the support person, before he looked into my account said, "No problem, I can fix that, I assume you also got the $20 credit already too". When I said no I got $10 he got a little quite. He responed by saying maybe I should not have said that.

I just thought that was funny, but in the end I got superfan free but not the extra $10. Not a big deal, I am fine with my deal.

I received my D* bill today and the amount I was being charged for the NFL ST w/SF was for 6 payments of $61.49 for a grand total of $368.76 (ST=$269.76/SF=$99). I just called and spoke to a operator and explained I had bugeted for only $300 for the NFL ST w/SF and if I could not get it for around $300 I was going to cancel the football package. BTW, I have been a D* customer since 1996 w/ST. Without hesitation he offered a discount of $120 (-$20 x 6 payments) making my payment each month $41.49 (41.49 x 6 payments= 248.94). I was very pleased and took their offer. I checked online and saw the following credit on my account :

    08/04/2009 XXXXXXXX NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2009 - NFLSTSAVECR$20 ($20.00)($2.63)

Needless I am very happy with the offer. :hurah: :hurah::D:D:hurah::hurah:

This will be my 13th year with ST, and have only complained once & got free SF two years ago. I don't like to whine about pricing as long as it is fairly assessed, but reading this thread kind of frosts my butt. I just called and politely said I was offended by having to pay full price to subsidize every Tom, Dick, and Harry that called and complained about the price. The CSR immediately offered the $20 off for 6 months, which I actually agreed to take and maintain my ST subscription. She then offered another $5 off my Sports Pack for a year as well. From what I have read on here I guess I could have pressed for more, but I only had to talk to 1 CSR & it was totally unconfrontational, so I just took it and moved on.

I swear if these people would just stop and think about how pissed off people would be if they all read this forum, they would make some changes. Why not just take this years total revenue and divide it by the number of subscribers, and make that next year's price including SF. No exceptions to the pricing, and I bet they would grow the subscriber base.

I signed up for dtv two weeks ago before the fall deal was out.
I was offered the premiere deal but she said I would still
    have to pay for SF.

AFAIK free SF is not part of the standard deal.

It wasnt part of the standard deal for me either. I called back the same day I was installed and asked if I had to pay to watch the NFL Sunday Ticket I just signed up for in HD and the said yes but then said I see you are a new customer and took it right off. They really try hard to make the new subs and NFL Sunday Ticket holders happy. Dont be afraid to call back and ask for it. Say you didnt know you had to pay extra for SuperFan until after you were installed and that you might not of chose to sign up had you of known. Just dont threaten to cancel. I bet you get it.

As stated a million times over in this thread call and at the voice prompt say cancel sunday ticket. That dont cancel it, it just takes you to the retention group who is way more helpful.

    done and DONE!!
I called up and said cancel sunday ticket (bear in mind I don't even have sunday ticket yet)
I said I was interested in the deal I was offered a couple days ago (fall premiere/ST deal) but I wanted to know if that included the games in HD.

Rep said no that would be included only if I got SF. So I asked how much that was extra and she said it would be 100$. I gave a little sigh and said well I 'll have to go over it with my wife and see if we can get the package and i'll call back.

She said..well if you want to sign up right now i'll give you 50$ off SF so only 2 payments of 25$. I said it's still too much since I already pay an HD access free. She then immediately said..."ok I can give it to you for free".
    :D:D

    I said..."ok ok i'll take it".

Thanks for all the help and good luck to others!

Call back and you might get a $100 credit for the Super Fan. Tell them you didn't realize it was an additional amount to watch in HD.

So after talking to the rep I checked my online account and saw that the premier deal was not showing up.

I called them back up and was told it was a mistake and I could not be offered the premier deal because I already signed up for the choice extra hd dvr for 54.99 (21 off per month x12 months +3 months free hbo, showtime, starz). I had signed up for this when I first got directv service about 2 weeks ago.

I was obviously very upset as they had just told me 30 minutes earlier that it was taken care of.

So I asked if there was anything else they could offer me for the ST+SF package.

So here is what she offered.

    I can keep my
    Choice+ HD+DVR package at 54.99 x 12 months (free 3 months showtime, hbo, starz)
    AND..
    she can offer me
    - NFL Sunday ticket with 20$ off per month x 6 months and she will throw in SF for free!!!

I believe I got the best of both worlds here! I got to keep my choice+hddvr package for 12 months at the reduced rate and I also got the ST+SF deal that people are getting.

What a deal! Just checked online and it's all showing up so it's official:D

So total savings should be something like this:

Savings of 252$ on the 12 month package
Savings of 200$ on the SF+ST package would have normally cost me 399.95. I'm now paying $199.95
    Total Savings: $452.00

    Couldn't be happier!

For existing subscribers like ronkuba that were able to get the new customer NFL ST promo, I was wondering if that started a new 2 yr commitment?

When ever I call I always log on to my account and make sure the changes happen while I'm on the phone. You should be able to see it right away on your recent account activity.
