SF is an optional service. You are not required to have SF if you do not want to have it. Just because you have an HD receiver or even sub to HD Access doesn't require you to carry this. However if you want to see games in HD in the Sunday Ticket then yes you will have to sub to SF. So the upgrade you received has nothing to do with Sunday Ticket. It had to do with you being able to get your local channels.

That's pretty obvious since you don't even have the option of paying for it.

My point was that I hope it doesn't show up as a 'freebie' since they forced it on me. Its not on an HDTV.

Beyond that, I won't pay $400 for it in HD and I won't watch it in SD for $300. I'll just cancel if they won't give me a deal.

Don't know if that $150 deal was real, but what discounts you can get appear to depend on your particular account. It seems that anyone that had NFLST in prior years and threaten to cancel, get the best deals. The amount of discounts or credits you have already received appear to factor in as well.

I called 3x's and when I pushed them, they came back with the same answer. I can give you $5 off for 12 months and the early bird special. No free SF, no $20/mo discount for 6 months. So far that means no NFLST revenue coming from me.

Ok I called today since I had time for a change and got a complete shock! Now keep in mind I was calling to legitmately cancel ST. The gentleman I spoke with said sure I can help you with that, why are you canceling it is a great package? I responded with the truth, I can't really afford it this year and being I have HD I would need to spend another 100 bucks to watch my Titans play in HD, it's just alittle too much. The response I got was I can offer you SF for free and discount ST by giving you a bill credit for the next six months of $20 a month! I almost jumped out of my skin and my jaw hit the floor. I told the man on the phone it wasn't necessary to do that for me and he responded with I don't want a longtime ST subscriber to miss any action. After thanking him about 30 times and he adjusted my account the call ended and I couldn't be happier! Thank you Directv!!!!!!

I called to cancel today because of the cost.

She says if I want to keep he NFLST she would give me $20 credit for 6 months and SF for free.

It took about 15 minutes and help from her supervisor to get SF for no charge in her computer system, but she got it done.

She verifies the 6 month credit and no charge for SF and then gives me Showtime for free for 6 months because of my wait time on the phone.

I just called and told the rep that I have to cancel ST this year due to finances this year and he told me OK he would take me off auto-renew and cancel, I said OK please do that. He then told me to hold on, he had a special offer for me and talked to a supervisor and came back on and offered me ST & SF for 6 payments of $44.99= $269.94 for this season. I told him that would enable me to keep this package this year and thanked him. I have been with D since the very beginning and have had ST just as long. I was really going to cancel ST due to the cost this year, thanks D* for helping me keep ST, I truly would have missed it.

For those getting the $20 off for 6 months, which number are you calling? 1-800-DIRECTV?

Thanks for that number, it might have made the difference. They finally at least offered me a little better discount. I signed up for the standard deal, NFLST for 5 payments of $56 and SF for 4 payments of $25 and received a $10 credit for 12 months. Its like getting SF free and and additional $25 discount. So the net total is $260 for NFLST+SF and over the 17 wk schedule =$15/Sunday.

I honestly think that anyone that's had it longer should get a better discount to keep it. Since I have only been with D* for less then a year and already receive several credits (AAA & new pkg = -$28/mo, D* CC = -$5/mo and 2 referrals = $100 in credits), I'm satisfied. And since my remaining commitment is still more then a year, the credits end before my commitment does. Although, I have no plans on leaving even after the commitment ends anyway.

I was using the 800-531-5000 and they would hardly budge. Not sure if the other numbers go to a different call center or just luck of the draw.

I just called to cancel and the lady that answered said that I am an 'A+' customer or something to that effect, whatever that means. Anyway, she immediately offered free SF and a $5 credit for 6 months. I said no thanks, so she offered $10 a month for 6 months. I then began waffling a bit, and she said "Final offer...$20 a month off for 6 months...you pay $35 a month for 5 months, instead of $55 a month, plus an additional month of credit." I took that deal and hung up.

However, I then went online to check my account to make sure it was correct (which I always do after a phone call), and there was only the $10 a month credit (plus free SF) showing up. So, I call back and get someone else who wasn't really clued in to much. He said that there is nothing he can do since the $10 credit is all he has access to in his system.

So, I asked to speak with a supervisor and some guy got on and saw my $10 credit. He checked the notes and saw that I was indeed offered $20 a month, so he put me on hold. He said he isn't sure how I was offered that since it isn't in the system (or something to that effect). So, he said that he will give me a $10 a month HD credit every month for 6 months to make is $20 off a month. I agreed to that.

I ain't complaining....now only if they did that when I canceled the MLB Extra Innings a few months back.

I'm not sure how they're doing it since I called 1-800-DIRECTV (programmed in phone that way). When it asked for my reason for calling I simply said cancel NFL Sunday Ticket. I heard please wait while I transfer you, it rang twice and a man picked up! I don't know why the give certain people certain deals. I'll just say I've been with D* since 2004 and had ST every year since then and only had SF since last year.
