Don't blame you. My situation was different as I really wanted to cancel and she just kept offering more freebies. I would have taken the freebies and no ST if she would have let me but I didn't try too.

Called back today and they sweetened the deal just a tad. In addition to the $20 off for six months I was offered yesterday, I got free DVR service or six months. Perhaps if I kept calling, I could do better but I decided to take that: altogether $156 off the total bill. That's the best deal I've ever gotten from these guys for this package.

I called...said I wanted to cancel due to the high cost, etc. Was put on hold. She came back on and told me it was all set and ST was canceled; have a great day! I really intended to cancel but at least was expected a "what can we do to keep you?" kind of thing. So much for them dangling carrots.

Just called twice (1-800-directv) and didn't get one offer matching those above. I had previously already canceled the auto renewal (they didn't offer me anything at that time). I told them that I'd have to downgrad my current programing in order to afford the package this year, but didn't go anywhere.

    Any other suggestions/different phone numbers/etc?

Whether or not they offer you anything, seems to depend on your account. I don't think its a good idea to say "Cancel NFL ST", I can't afford it. Some CSR's may think, you don't have the money so they end the call fast and move on.

I didn't get the best deal, but my persistence did result in a better deal. I would call and say, I wanted to see if you can help me out. I had NFL ST for "x" years, but recently canceled due to my budget. I'm having second thoughts since I'm really going to miss it. At the regular price I just can't afford it. I've heard that other people have been offered credits or free SF. If you could do something like that for me, I might be able to fit it in my budget. Can you help me out?

Its worth a try... Good luck!

I always call Mon-Fri during the daytime hours because it seems the CSR's are more experienced and get my problems corrected quickly .

I canceled my NFL ST and NHL CI auto renewals yesterday and the guy didn't give me any offers whatsoever to try to keep either one of them. The only time I ever got the NFL ST was last year though when they had that deal to get 4 months of the premier package free if you got NFL ST so maybe that is why.

I was fed up with the whole $99/SF just to get games in HD thing, so I decided to call and cancel. I was on the phone quite a while, and told them why I was canceling, because of the whole HD issue since I'm already paying for HD access. So after a while she finally got it canceled. Ok, done and done.

I look at my account online, and they've got a $10 credit to my account and the description says something like '12 mo programming credit'.

Hmm. So now I can't decide if I should just leave it as it is or return to NFL ST & SF since I'd basically be getting SF for free. It's a little odd that if she would of offered me that to begin with I probably wouldn't have canceled.

So what I did was add ST & SF online and then called to cancel it. I got $10 off per month and SF for free.

Not the $20 bucks off a month, but it'll work.

I was planning on doing the same thing, except I called to add it instead of doing it on line. I figured I would add it with the $10 discount for 6 months they were offering, wait until next month and then call back to cancel. When they offered $10/mo credit for 12 months, I figured that was good enough. So I probably won't call back and threaten to cancel now. Are you getting the discount for 6 or 12 months?

So I called today and stated that my wife said it was too expensive for me to keep the Sunday Ticket (nice sob story :() and the girl in retention says, but you like the ST right? I said yes and she offered me the $20 off for six months and SF for free, "The Deal"...now on my account it shows both ST and SF and being billed at the regular price in the My Account section (I can't see my bill online since I still get paper statements). She said my bill would show prorations of the ST and SF and my $20 off. Should I be worried she didn't get the information entered correctly or freak out after the bill comes ? Thoughts?

I just called Directv and told them I want to cancel NFLST because I don't feel I should have to pay $100 for HD games. The CSR matter of factly asked if I'd be willing to keep the package if he gave me Superfan for free. I said sure, that I just didn't feel I should have to pay an extra $100 for HD games. He said great, gave me free Superfan, and that was that. It was actually very easy and the guy was really nice.

Well after I cancelled two weeks ago and never got any offer for SF I called back today. I spoke to a nice CSR and I asked her if there were any deals for me to stay with the Sunday Ticker. She told me she had to reinstate NFL ST on my account to see if there were any special offers. After she did so she noticed the Free Superfan is available and she added it. She didnt offer me any other discounts or anything but I took it. It sounds like the Free SF is an actual official offer. I didnt really push for additional discount and maybe if I did I wouldve gotten something.
