I called yesterday and canceled was not offered any deals at all (except for the auto renew price). Called back today and had a GREAT CSR and told him what I was looking for and got it!

ST with SF for $44.95 for 6 months with a $20 credit for 6 months.

    Both times I called retention.

Well, I called the 1-800-GET-SPORTS number this afternoon to see if I could get the deal everybody else has been getting. I didn't threaten to cancel ST. I only asked if there were any deals I was eligible for concerning ST. The CSR offered $10 off for six months. I asked if I could get SuperFan for free but she said no. I politely declined the offer.

I will try again later on. This time, though, I think I will call the 1-800-DirecTV number instead.

I called and asked for free SF, and I got it...a cool CSR experience.

I called and told them the same thing, that it's dumb to pay that much money for SD football. The CSR agreed with me and gave me SF for free. All took less than 5 min.

Has anyone tried to get Superfan free via D* website? I hate going through the phone route and not getting someone that speaks English!!

I've never had a non English speaking Directv CSR. I don't think they even outsource their call centers. I know of three centers...Oklahoma, Colorado, & North Carolina (I think).

Personally, I find it easier to get freebies if neither of us speak the same language.

Is it true you need a phone line hooked up for the season if you get ST?

According to the terms, yes. In reality, they don't enforce that rule.

I just called. I told them that I was debating whether I was going to keep Sunday Ticket this year or not, given the high cost and that I've been told that there are some offers available to help lower that cost. I also mentioned that I don't think that it's worth getting Sunday Ticket without also getting the HD and that when adding Superfan for HD it's extremely expensive, which she agreed with.

She then offered me $20 off my bill for each of the next 6 months. I would have been happy with free Superfan. So, I'm now happy + $20.

I just called and added ST to my account since I'm a new customer. He quoted me the $279 price and I specifically asked if that included everything and he said yes. So if I do not have SF when the season starts I will call and complain.

I just called and canceled in less than five minutes. They did not offer me a thing. I think that it is silly to pay over $300 for football games. If they offer something better soon I might take it.

You better plan on calling then. Its has everything in the sence yes it has all the games. It has everything you need to watch the games so it was not a lie. If you wanted to know about watching them all in HD then you should of asked. Id almost bet my paycheck that you dont get SuperFan.

    OK, here's my story.

I've had ST for over 8 years now and I have been using the same receiver the whole time (Sony SAT-B2 DSS Receiver). Naturally this receiver has no clue what a HD signal is and neither does my dish for that matter.

I received a mailing from DTV today offering me a free HD Receiver/Dish setup AND free Superfan for 2009. The option was, not to get ST at all because my receiver will no longer work once the season starts. All games will be broadcast in HD and I need a new setup to continue with ST.

This is a very interesting offer and I may take them up on it. I notice a lot of talk on this forum concerning whether or not you can get free Superfan just by asking and I believe you can. I am getting it and didn't even ask. I believe it will be included with ST in the near future (since they seem to be giving it away like candy).

Another interesting tidbit concerning my ST. It is the only package I get from DTV. I used to have the basic programming package but cancelled it when I moved to Texas and they allowed me to keep ST. So far they have not required me to get a basic package to keep ST and I hope they never do.

I do have a question for you nice folks that already have or had Superfan. How does the web/browser and desktop access work? Do they restrict the IP addresses you can access games from? Which is better, the web browser or desktop?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Dr Evil
