I am curious if I record a movie on a premium channel and then drop my subscription to that premium channel am I still able to watch that movie later?

For example, I recorded a movie (Slumdog Millionaire) from when I had Cinemax but recently tried to watch it and received the 721 error. Is that a glitch or do I have to be currently authorized to watch the channel to be able to watch previously recorded movies?

If I am to record movies during a free preview weekend can I then watch them later even if I do not subscribe?

Yes. I do this all the time on free preview weekends. Now, if it was a VOD download from a pay channel, I dont know.

You should be able to. With Dish we have a protect button. I just cancelled Showtime last month and several Showtime movies are still there.
