Anyone successfully done so? I am in the process of looking to replace one of my laptops. Thanks.
[strike]Use extreme caution here. A lot of the newer laptops are multi video output capable. As you may nave noted the DTV2PC doesn't play nice with those. I can confirm that HP/Compaq 8510p will NOT work. This could be a crucial problem most of the video devices in the recommended ability range are going to have multiple outputs and even with mine disabled in the ATI 2600's control panel it wont work.[/strike]
I stand corrected. So here is another compatible laptop
2ghz core 2 duo centrino
ATI HD2600 Mobility (NOTE: HP drivers may not work, you will need this http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php to install reference drivers on this laptop)
HP Pavilion dv5t ... Intel P8600 w/ Nvidia 9600M GT working fine here.
It works on my Dell Insprion 1525.
Inspiron 1525, Intel Pentium Dual Core T2390 (1.86GHz, 1M L2 Cache)

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256MB
Intel 4965AGN Dual band (2.4 & 5GHz) Wireless N

hp zd9000, with nvidea dedicated graphics card works fine..
Mine’s an older one, but it does work (albeit with some lag over WiFi):
Dell E1505, Pentium Core DUO T2400 (1.83GHz), 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, ATI Mobile Radeon X1300, Windows Vista Ultimate.
Cool, wife runs XP so it will be interesting to see if it works as well
Running SD and HD fine on this.
Dell Inspiron 6400 (same notebook as the Inspiron E1505)
Windows Vista Business SP1
Intel Core 2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz
nVidia GeForce Go 7300 256MB video ram (128MB of it shared from system ram)
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11ABG running 802.11g

Pentium Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz (Penryn)
NVideo Quatro 125 (or something like that) video w/ 128MB
Windows XP w/ SP3
Works like a champ. No problems at all.
HP/Compaq nc8430 works great with DirecTV2PC in SD and HD. Still running XP pro. Some weeks I've used it to keep up with a second or third football game "almost live".
I tried a couple of different things last evening and was finally able to get my older laptop to work DIRECTV2PC. I can play SD programming without any issues and have had luck playing most HD programming

I do not know what your issue is with your particular laptop, but this is not the case with many other laptops with multiple outputs. It could just be something with your video card incorrectly reporting something to the protection program/OS.
My T61 has VGA, DVI, and the built in LCD and it works fine as long as only one of the outputs is enabled.
Ok Grentz you convinced me to try further.
HP dv5t is a nice mid grade laptop Works really good compared to my old dv6000
