Does anyone know if the Biloxi-Gulfport area will ever get local Stations? Thanks.
I highly doubt it. That's a tiny little town compared to say, Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL. It's also a tourist town so very few people would even have Dish or DirecTV... and the population has only shrunk since Katrina, Ivan, and Dennis.
Really?? I wouldn't call the coast tiny by any means. And tourists in the casino's don't have much effect on resident population. The coast's DMA is #135, and the sat companies have Tupelo (#160) and Meridian (#213) locals all ready.
The problem is the coast DMA only has two networks (ABC, FOX). It doesn't make financial sense for the sat companies to only offer two of the four networks. Same issue here in Hattiesburg, we only have NBC and CBS.
It just ticks me off that it's legal for the local cable companies to get the missing networks from other DMA's, but not for the satellite companies.
BOTH dish and direct have permission to carry Wlox and Wxxv's signal... problem is our Wonderful LOCALS ARE ASKING A ARM AND A LEG FOR TRAMISSION FEES! we are simply NOT worth it to dish or direct so if anyone is to blame its the local station managers! Not sure how we could EVER get moblie NBC and CBS or New orleans either they are only LOCAL on Cable one
Well I "Moved" my service to New Orleans LA. Thanks for the replys.
Shhhhh - can't use the "M" word here!
And he or she is defending us from foreign aggression..... :nono:
Granted the original post should not have mentioned "M" as it is a violation of rules here, but I'm Not sure how his/her service to their country appiles to watching t.v.? its the SCREWED up laws aimed at protecting cable companies that we should be upset about!
It's off-topic, yes, but, as a retired member of the Army, I'm concerned about the lack of integrity and issues of trust.
I see your point but I would not be too concerned imho. B.T.W thanks for your service!
