They'll have an answer to your streaming app woes soon enough.

"Switch today to AT&T TV, with our custom streaming box and remote powered by Android TV, putting your live TV channels front-and-center, with the option to access all your favorite streaming apps right on the same box! Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Spotify, Pandora, they're all here! Just use the full-featured voice remote to ask the included Google Assistant to launch them by name!"

AT&T (apparently both DirecTV and Uverse) are in a carrige dispute with kron4/sf at present, and they are pointing at locast capability for their subscribers to continue to receive the channel. This is the checkmate move by AT&T to put the hammer down on these broadcasters who have gotten too greedy hiking fees to everyone.

If this app on DTV has probs, this will perhaps help with getting it fixed if the amount of complaints goes through the roof. It may also cause Nexstar (owner of kron4) to look at legal remedies.

But now we probably know why AT&T threw $500k at Locast a few months ago.

ATT may have thrown $500k to help Locast but the idiots still can’t get their app to work. Two months have passed and mine still freezes and crashes immediately. What a pathetic checkmate attempt against the broadcasters.

I'm sure the Locast app (and thousands of other apps) will work much better on AT&T's forthcoming set-top box powered by Google's Android TV, to be offered for use with the new AT&T TV service.

If you have it, it's listed in the TV Apps on the right side of your screen after you click the 'right' arrow on your remote. For me, it's the second one down, and didn't appear until today. (I don't have a Genie 2, btw.)

You can't 'get it' if you don't have it. They have to update your apps, you can't make that happen.

I have the Locast APP on my receivers, and I have signed up on the website! But once the app comes up on the Directv receiver, if you select a channel and press enter with the remote, the APP dissapears and the channel you had on returns!! I do not understand how to get the channel to display once you select it!! UGH!!!

Locast showed up on my HR24 and HR44.

Doesn't seem to work on my HR24. I can bring up the channel guide but when I select a channel it just reverts back to the Directv channel that I am on.

On the HR44 I route sound through my Home Theater receiver using HDMI and when I use Locast I don't get any sound. Not sure why because I have Locast working OK when I use it on FireTV which I also have connected with HDMI to Home Theater receiver.

I want these carriage disputes to stop I'm tired of them happening.

As retrans disputes ramp up, recent article on multichannel news links to locast as a work around to greedy broadcasters.

My locast app finally started working after two months. Enough people must have called in due to the CBS dispute for ATT to fix it.

It works ok as a substitute for CBS, but the picture quality is subpar. Streams on most apps start fuzzy as they buffer before snapping into a sharp picture. Locast constantly fluctuates between fuzzy and sharp.

Same here. APP disappears and goes back to channel I'm watching.

Me too. Channel list appears, I select a channel, app disappears and I am back with the DirecTV channel I was originally watching.

I tried it today on my HR44. It worked, but the picture was SD and looked awful. Oddly, the same local station showed up twice in the channel list with two different programs. (Maybe one was a subchannel? It didn't say.)
