We definately had some bad winds last night. Even the school system is out due to so many homes across the county being without electric.

Just when the AM21 was going to show up today and I had decided to take off work. My wife comes in to the bedroom and tells me the antenna is in front of the laundry room window across the electric line. I'am waiting on the electric company to get it off the line so I can work on the bent antenna. Not happy right now.

When I called Kentucky Utilities they said around 56,000 customers were without power in the Central KY area. The representitive I finally got to talk to didn't say how long it would take. I'am assumming I will be down at the bottom of the list since I still have power to the house.

Here are the pics. Don't pay attention to the old house. It is due for a new facelift. I put the 4228 on top to try to pull in the weakest Lexington stations. In retrospect that may have made the setup too top heavy. Even the guide wires snapped. This was a past weekend project with a friend.

Dude that sucks really. When Katrina and Wilma (hurricanes) came through I lost my ota and dish. The second time it took about 2 weeks to get back up and running.I know how you feel. Sorry!

Thanks man. I appreciate it. I'am definately bummed out but as I watch the news this morning and see all the damage and lives lost I realize it is only "stuff".

I was really looking forward to hooking this AM21 up today though. :(

Man, that does suck! Hopefully they can get that off the power line today and with a lot of hard work. You can get the antenna back up today or tomorrow? :)

    Frack! :eek2:

I'm glad it didn't pull down the wire and kill your power too (pretty house, by the way). No major property damage here in my neck of the woods but a bit north up to Nashville and all the way west to the Mississippi River and into Arkansas, there are dead and injured people, destroyed buildings, downed trees and power lines, etc. Nasty night.

I'd be out there with a sawsall :)
but I think calling a couple local electritions will get it down quicker than the power co.

Button Pusher, our best to your family. I saw the weather report last night on TV and it didn't look good. Hopefully you'll be up and recording locals over the air in no time!

Thanks guys. I may not be able to fix it until the weekend. I need a second person to help me lift it into position. By the looks of it I will just need to replace one 10ft pole section. The VHF antenna is bent some.I don't know about getting it straight again since it is aluminum. I just want to go out there and lift it up at the bend, but I don't mess with power lines. Patience,I need patience.

You could probably hook it up still. Just won't be able to run the antenna setup.

Since the setup just accesses a database, you could probably run that also. Maybe a Radio Shack indoor antenna would give you some channels if the power company takes too long.

Ditto. In the grand scheme, things could have been much worse ...

Why not run the setup? It will show the channels in the guide. I tested this last night. The channels show up but are " greyed" out like I don't recieve those channels. Plug the antenna in and wait 10 minutes and they are " lit " again. So hook it up and run the stup. You'll get up soon. We know it!
