I didn't hear what the wind speed was measured at in my town.At one time the house actually moved,if that makes sense. Our house is a pre Civil War house built around 1860.It is listed in the historical books for Maysville. I suppose it has seen some pretty bad storms and so far it is still standing. It also survived the '47 flood. I know there is a big tree down in my neighbors yard and out in the county up out of the Ohio River Valley it was much worse. My Uncle's Dairy Farm was hit pretty hard. The wind blew down some barns and his dairy barn was damaged.

Last night about an hour after I set up the AM21 there was a large gust of wind that blew my patio furniture around. I then noticed I was not receiving any of my OTA digital PBS channels that I picked up an hour before.

This morning I notice my antenna is pointing due East. It was pointing North West. :(

It looks like a trip on the roof is in order for this weekend.

I may go ahead and do that. I know It will drive me crazy to see it just sitting on top of my HR21 not doing anything. No light on or fulfilling its duties as an OTA tuner. I know it wants to work and do the job it was built to do.I can just tell that about it!:D

I'll bet not many pre Civil War houses receive satellite TV. That's a very exclusive club. I hope you are up and running soon.

I will have to take a pic of the front of the house and show you that it does look a little funny with that Slimline on the roof of the front porch on such an old style house.

Update: The electric co. got the antenna off the line. They cut my antenna cable so that means more work.I wasn't able to get the antenna back up this weekend. We had a high wind advisory yesterday and I'am waiting on a 30 ft ladder or a friend is trying to get his hands on a bucket truck. One way or another I will get it back up!

I'd be there to help if I were a bit closer. Surely pizza and a six pack buys lots of help. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

If I lived closer I'd be able to donate coax as I have it coming out of my ears (along with connectors, etc.). Fear of RobertE's wrath when I got my SWM got me buying tons of stuff that would meet with his approval. Friends don't let friends use crimped connectors. :D

    Good luck with this!

Tony, "what's really going to bake your noodle later on is" realizing that compression fittings are really just fittings crimped longitudinally instead of laterally... :D

Thanks Tom and Tony for the offer! I appreciate it.

Well the weather isn't cooperating right now. Snow and Ice doesn't make a good combination when climbing up a ladder and onto a roof!:(

Well my antenna saga continues. I have finally come to the conclusion that the poles I have to lift my antenna into the sky are too thin. After working on it four hours Saturday. So a new game plan has been discussed and I'am going to put up a tower instead of a single pole. The weather is not cooperating though. We had a wind advisory here yesterday so when my friend and I went to look at a tower we could disassemble and put up at the house it was way too windy to attempt it.

It has defiantely gotten personal now to get this antenna up and have it stay there.I don't give up easily but luck has not been on my side. This has been the windiest February I can remember.

Earl,I don't have a problem paying for my AM21 since I haven't been able to test it the way I should have. I want to apologize to the other Field Testers that I haven't been able to help with the testing.

It has been extremely windy here this weekend also. A tower is a very good idea for you. Just make sure you have it anchored well in the ground and to the house. :)

    ButtonPusher,

I am presuming that you have the AM21 attached to the HR21, even if the antenna itself is not. If so, you are still testing the combination of the units, a helpful thing even if you can't get any signals now.

    Cheers,
    Tom

Well, Tom I just went thru the antenna setup tonight even though my antenna is not 100% vertical yet.I thought I would be doing this for the final time last night after I got the antenna up but it was not to be. I was tired of not having it all hooked up and did it this evening even though my antenna is propped up on a stand in the yard.
