Won't this be a problem if he uses SWiM-Line 3 if he wants his locals in the future?

Ok, I might try the "coffee can" experiment; :)

I actually extrapolate this from bobnielson's setup where he's posted before that he still uses an old AT-9 dish connected to an early SWiM-5 module, where the 110/119 sidecar went bad some time ago. But he simply switched the setting to a SlimLine-3 and has never had any problems with 920 guide error messages or what have you since the SWiM-5 module always accesses guide data from 101.

Since the receiver can't control this, it should have been the same [guide wise] without changing.

    The same guide wise?

Unless you mean in terms of the same state of having no guide error messages on either setting, I thought any 110/119 channels would naturally disappear from the CG when on the SlimLine-3 setting.

yes, and changing would simply remove/add the 119 channels.

Thanks to JDSpencer, I got to looking around and found"

    According to this site:

    http://home.comcast.net/~directvlocals/dtvlil-city.html

My local HD channels are coming in on 103, which only leaves two channels(that I don't watch anyway)as not receivable off 103, so as I see it I don't need 119.
Or does this mean that if the content is not HD, it will revert to 119 or stay on 103?

Am I wrong in my thinking?

Thanks for all the responses, now if I can only find an 8' X 2" pole, I am set (I think)

No, even if an SD channel is carried on 99 or 103 (the MPEG-4 Ka band) it will be received from there as with the HD ones.

Again, Thanks to all. I think I have it figured out, and will just go with the three lnb swm with a pole mount, if I can find the 2" OD pole or order the reducer I've seen on other posts.

    Thanks,
    Errol
