Maintance call

    We have been Direct tv customers for over 15 years. If I call and ask for a dish realign and lnb check, there have been more instances of losing sat 1 or 2 signal lately, would they put me into a new 2 year contract. I dont have protection plan. I remember something about a free checkup for long term customers like me.

    There was a national outage on 103 satellite today that caused SFSS. There are no free service calls it will cost you $99 unless you can talk them out of it.

    Or if you were thinking of getting any receivers upgraded (which also would get a commitment) they'd do an IVR on the install and if the LNB or dish need work they'll do any fixes then.

    Thank you for the info. More worried about a new 2 year contract. Havent had one for 6 years now

    Oh ... I didn't know there was a satellite outage today ...

    Happen to know if it was 103 "ca" or "cb?"

    Naturally I would suspect the old geezer 103cb, or the "T10" satellite.

    I believe it was 103 ca and just even transponders or maybe even just a transponder.

    You aren't going to get a contract for a tech call. Like the other guy said, it'll cost you $99 unless you can talk them out of it. What I have done in the past is "play dumb" with the tech support CSR and you might at least get a little discount lol. If you call them up and sound like you know what you're talking about, they'll probably tell you to pay the full hundsky.

    I don't buy that there was an outage - or if there was it couldn't have been for more than a few minutes. There hasn't been a single post here or satelliteguys from people regarding channels being out of service. When D10 went out there were dozens of posts about it.

    I got the pop up on my screen yesterday a few times between 7am and about 8:30am. Didn't affect the stations I was watching, but it was the outage on satellite 1. It was sunny and clear so not weather related.

    ^^ Ditto. Wasted a bunch of time looking up signal strengths, checking connections, etc., and couldn't get rid of the popup. Watched a recording instead, and when I finished, the popup was gone.
