Today [Sunday, March 4, 2018] marks my 20th anniversary as a customer, a subscriber, with DirecTV. (Well, it is now owned by AT&T. So, I often refer to it as AT&T’s DirecTV.)

Many people have been subscribing for a substantial amount of time.

Some have been customers longer than I.

Is there anyone else around a milestone anniversary?

WOW that guide brings back a lot of memories of when my parents first had D*, I think they got it in 1994 and they still have it today.

Look at where those channels were, in the 220’s. They have a few channel rearrangements over the years, I’d like to see what the original channel line up was back then.

But to answer your question, I’ve been with D* going on 11 years now (2007). My contract is up in July (had to sign a one year contract when I got $60.00 off a month for a year) and I will be re-evaluate things then.

Things sure have changed since then, some for the better, some for the worse.

I purchased my first DIRECTV system in December 1994 as a Christmas gift for my family. Installed and activated it the first week of January 1995. I've been a satisfied customer for 23 years!

September 1994 for me, the first week it was available in Cedar Rapids. I paid $999.00 for a receiver and dual output LNB 18" dish. My account # is only 5 digits long !

From my TV Guide collection, here's the channel lineup page from a "USSB Edition" from September 1997, and it looks like some of the channels had been rearranged since the January 1997 video. (A few of them are on channel numbers they still have today: CNN, ESPN, Headline News, at first glance.)

I would be right there with you if not for a 2 year stint with Dish. Started with Primestar which was bought out by Directv.

15 years with DISH? I can't remember the exact date. Some time in March (before joining DBSTALK in April).

9/10/1994 was the first day D* became available in my area. Set up the dish and every thing myself on that date. Went HD on 12/07/2012.

Almost 22 years here; been very happy for the most part, with only a little bit of scratching and biting to keep certain programming.

I'm a June 1995 install. When I called last year, the rep thanked me for being a subscriber then said I have been a subscriber for almost as long as she has been alive :astonished:

I've been a customer since 2009. I had a break in service in 2013. I continued until 2018. I guess 9 yrs. I still like the service. DVR capabilities are good. Video on Demand is good. They are not at the Verizon level with on Demand. I see on my friends FIOS service the on Demand is better. More series, shows and movies than DIRECTV. I mean their selection is a little broader than DIRECTV's. DTV's is limited. These are my observations when my friend handed me the FIOS remote. I still enjoy the service. My only quarrel is some of the functions they removed from the Genie and the Genie server.

The old name for MTV2 when most cable systems had the BOX.
