I hit 22 years last month...hence my handle. Won a Sony system from work that retailed at $700-$800 or something like that...installed it myself...never looked back!

I bought my Sony system in November '96.
I got a company discount because the company
I worked for was a subsidiary of Hughes at the time.

Been with Directv since 1995. Got the RCA single LNB from Sears. It was an impulse buy because I broke up with my girl friend. The best thing I ever did, “buying Directv”

I love the 72 day rewind on DirecTV .
I don't believe fios ondemad has that .

I know they (vz) beta tested it "3 day lookback" with their iptv service but it never went public to my knowledge

A customer I think since 2001. Great deals at the time for purchasing DirecTV DVRs with Tivo brought me to DirecTV. I remember my wife saying how we didn't need to record all those shows! So funny. Those DirecTivo boxes at the time ran circles around anything the Comcast or any other cable company had. Now, the X1 DVR from Xfinity looks much better to me. For the first time in 18 years, I'm jealous of my Cable company friends. Now I just have to decide if I can live without NFL Sunday ticket.

What about the X1 do u like the voice remote ?

Other than that there's not too much differences
The X1 guide takes up the whole screen / D* u still have a window to see what your watching.

They took a lot of app from D* and copied them like the sports app iheart radio, Olympics app etc ...

    Phoenix,...
14 years this month. We had Insight cable when we first moved in to our house in Gilbert AZ. We switched to USWest's Choice IPTV. When we moved to Phoenix, the neighborhood did not have Choice or DSL service from Qwest, but offered DirecTV. We got a free year of Showtime on our five year anniversary, but nothing for our ten.

Mine is early April of 1998. I do remember USSB and Directv. Waiting for locals and then HD.

    New York,...
I was at my friends house on Friday. Watching movies, drinking and stuffing our faces with pizza. He got rid of his Verizon Fios tv service. He added Spectrum because of the lower introductory rate. He ordered an OnDemand movie. It had audio problems, pixelation at times and various problems with the movie. The most problems I have had with Directv is a little pixelation here and there not as bad as Spectrum. I went to another friend of mines house and one channel was scrambled the whole time she was trying to tune in. I haven't seen a real improvement over its previous owner. It shows that Spectrum buying Time Warner Cable was not a great idea. Them taking over did not mean better service. Ask around! Gimmicks and lower prices got them more customers. Yeah they always do! So a lot of you leaving because of menial or equipment problems - unreliable cable is waiting for you. The problems are worse than Directv's problems. Much worse. Dish itself has lost 3 million customers. They had 14 million customers. They are down to 11 million. Go figure!

DISH still has over 13 million customers. If you are going to exclude millions of customers make sure you do the same for DIRECTV.

I must be the minority. I had Centurylink (CenturyTel) from 2005 to December 2016 and paid for 6mb download but usually only got 1.5mb download (We are at the end of the line in our subdivision). Switched to Time Warner as they were the cable provider in the area, though I never subscribed back then. TWC now Spectrum as of a while ago, and they gave me 60MB download for $15 less per month. Then last fall, they raised it to 100MB at no additional charge.

I am not going back to CenturyLink for slower internet at an increased price!

My neighbor worked for Hughes and had one of the first system's installed. Believe it or not they still use the same dish and RCA receiver to this day! Its actually amazing how fast channel surfing is and the box reboots in a flash.

I just came back to Dish. The DTV DVR downgraded software did it. Hopper 3 is much better than Genie. AT&T destroyed DTV.

I worked for Thomson Consumer Electronics (parent company of RCA consumer electronics) when DTV launched, and had a test account for a while before DTV and USSB officially launched. Flipped to a personal account in 1994 so I guess that puts me at 24 years!

I have alot of Directv USSB brochures, cool to look at them seeing the channels offered back then. Also have a pamplet DTV mailed out showing several new channels and addition of song id to music choice.
It was always exciting when new channels would launch. I remember they would have the channel on showing a preview or slide days before it started.
Now channels are added with no annoucement a lot of times.
