is there any bonafide proof it's SHORTS? other than it was mis listed on the D* magazine guide once?
Whatever it is, what it isn't is something that the masses are clamoring for (AMC, BBC, etc).
No proof, but a decent amount of circumstantial evidence.
That is completely out of line. It's not stealing to take advantage of an offer DirecTV provides. They could very easily disallow people from doing it, but they have chosen not to. If a customer wants to go through the hassle of cancelling and resubscribing to the package every three months, and DirecTV is willing to let them, there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of it.
And just for the record, I've only ever used the HD Extra Pack free trial once. I cancelled it at the end, and haven't resubscribed. Not worth the hassle to me. So I'm not trying to defend myself here.
I too like HDNet Movies. Right now only seem to watch that and Palladia on the HD Extra Package.
I haven't checked out MGM, Sony or Hallmark in a while. Are they bug and commercial/intermission free? Any movie channels that shows bugs, ads or has a break in the movie gets put on my cut list. What are those three channels doing in that regard?
So basically you're saying it's not illegal if you don't get caught? I have morals and I think its wrong to repeatedly take something that's only supposed to be free once. Cancelling and resubscribing is like going to a grocery store and taking another free sample cookie every 5 minutes because no one was watching them.
How is that even remotely the same as taking a discount offered to them? :scratchin
If it's allowed by DirecTV (which it seems to be), blame them and not the sub who gets the discount.
IMHO, Whether or not a subscriber pays for them (or even has them for that matter) is allowed to give their opinion about the the channels offered by their service provider.
A Festivus for the Rest of us!
I don't know what the heck that even means. :ewww:
Are you serious? You make the oddest analogies.
An annual Festivus for the proletariat to keep us from storming the castle
wont Sixto's charts nearer the date give us a clue?
So if I send an email to D* stating that the continual dropping and then re-subbing of the HD extra pack is advocated by the mods at DBSTalk, and, by extension, DBSTalk, do you think that will reflect well on this board? Can we PM Chris and see how he feels about the stance? What is possible and what is morally correct are not the same. If you and the others who advocate that there is nothing wrong with gaming the system don't see that or agree, there is little I can say or do to stop you.
Do you have knowledge that DIRECTV considers it "gaming the system"? I sure don't, and therefore would not be as quick as others to judge. If you feel it ethically or morally wrong, don't do it. But I am not sure that gives anyone the right to impose those judgments on others.
The morality police are here...Oh boy!
I'm not advocating anything. Nor am I'm not speaking for anyone but myself, so don’t put words in my post. I do think the analogies being made are pretty much a non sequitur. But, I wasn’t making any judgments on getting HD Extra for free...other than how it applies to posting an opinion about the channels that is. Please do not blindly make an assumption about what I meant. I am allowed to have a personal opinion.
My point is that anyone who's a DirecTV sub can express an opinion about the channels offered regardless of whether or not they get those channels. I don't believe anyone is allowed to put conditions on other person’s opinions.
BTW, I have and do pay for HD Extra and I really don’t care about other people’s DirecTV bill. That’s between them and DirecTV. If you have a problem with how DirecTV does things take it up with them
:righton: Who said we couldn't agree on anything!
Just curious.... why is the channel name still shrouded in secrecy?
I mean, we have the following information:
- Channel will go live on May 4th, therefore:
- Channel will go in testing on/around April 27th, therefore:
- A uplink/feed to DirecTV probably has already been established, therefore:
- A contract has been signed between DirecTV and the other party.
We also know that it is part of the HD Extra pack, which means it is an HD-only station, which means the amount of channels it COULD be is limited to some of the lists already mentioned.
The result so far is that there is just a bunch of bickering about what channel it could be. Obviously by tomorrow, when Sixto runs his report, it might become clear what channel it actually is..... but I just have to ask: What is the reason you just couldn't spill the beans on Monday and tell us what the channel is that is going to be added?
With what we know, and the info you already supplied, is there any reason why DirecTV still has to hide the actual channel name?
Nothing like a good cliff hanger.
