cool. i should be able to see it then.
The unis looked awesome. Apparently the Penguins have petitioned the league to use the blues as their alts next season. Sweet.
I padded this recording by an hour, thus I didn't miss the end - however my old HD8300 DVR from TWC used to ask to extend "a live event" by 30 minutes. Frankly I think the provider of TV listings to D* is inferior to what I have seen on TWC, thus the no "Live Event" flag. As a matter of fact the other day I realized the D* guide doesn't provide a rating similiar to how many "Stars" **** the movie received.
Ditto.. that is something that everyone that records sports has to be prepared to do. Add time to the end. You never know when a high scoring game, injury delays, weather delays, etc. can prolong a sporting event past its TV schedule allotted time.
Most definitely. And pad by *a lot* if you are recording an NHL playoff game
Our eyeballs are being provided to the advertiser, so the advertiser wants us cut off before they show us all their ads??? And in an incredibly PO'd mood so we hate their products? Yeah, right.
If the NHL CI channels can stop recording AT THE END OF THE GAME, and MLB does the same, and many others, why not all sports events? Answer, it's easy and they can.
For instance, I'm watching an MLB package game, and from about :10 seconds after the final out to about 2 or 3 minutes later, the recording automatically stops and I get the "do you want to delete?" screen. The recording last the length of the game. What was my original setting for record length? None in particular, just the default "record game". So what does DTV do? IT RECORDS THE GAME. ALL OF IT.
So the correct question is: if they already do it on some channels, why not all?
I'm not positive, but I think on the sports packs as you've outlined, once the game is over they cut the signal essentially, therefore the recording stops. That is not an option on network TV where the game is followed by other programming - can't just cut the signal on that channel.
You're right, the adveritsers would prefer to make DVR use easy in order that you're not mad whaen you're FAST FORWARDING over their ads.
You're not watching them and they know that.
Hey with this new crappy FF on the HR20/21 instead of the vastly superior :30 advance on Tivos, my cortex absorbs some of the ad images so we don't get off scot-free!
I have a suggestion for the next Winter Classic.
Hold it in Chicago and feature an Original Six matchup - Red Wings vs. Blackhawks. Blackhawks are coming back with Kane and Toews and, as for the Red Wings, they keep rolling along. It would be great to see the game in Soldier Field. I'd buy a ticket in a heartbeat for that.
and...I'll remember to pad my recording time to allow for Overtime and a Shoot Out!
You got a friendly laugh out of me.
Just don't let your TiVo reboot or you'll have to re-enter the secret code.
I think they need to hold the Winter Classic at Dolphins Stadium. Rangers at the Panthers. It's not like 1/2 of NY isn't in Florida this time of year anyway .
Okay, so it'd have to be roller hockey...
Well You could just pad yourself. It takes like 5 seconds.
The NHL actually played an outdoor pre-season game in Las Vegas when it was over 80 degrees out.
Cool thing! I wish my Sabres would go back to those uniforms. They are bringing back their old logo but with the new design of their jersey.
O man, the new unis are totally embarrassing! My Sharks look like Louis Catorce's court jesters in those getups. They ought to play Renaissance bourees when they skate out instead of "Are You Ready for This?".
An Original Six outside game is totally where it's at. As long as it's snowing.
Word, When I drink coffee out of my Bison and Cross-swords logoed mug, I always cringe at what the logo has become. At least we're a step better than the goat head they gave us for 10 years. I honestly thought it was a joke when I first saw it. I couldn't believe a group of adults would select it.
It's the banana slug!
Heh. I thought it was some sort of hamster.
