It appears that contrary to published reports, those games carried by the local CBS affiliate are blacked out on the MMM channels.
This is not what I thought I was paying for, and will undoubtlly lead to problems when the local channel switiches to another game.

sucks for the local games for HD  but if it's the same as in the past when your local CBS switches the MMM feed blackout will be lifted
nothing like being in the stick so OTA HD is no option and DirecTV doesn't carry my HD locals

I'm pretty sure it's always been that way.

If your local affilliate is scheduled to carry the game, it's not available on the MMM channel.

In fact, the DirecTV website advertising MMM says as much http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageNR.jsp?assetId=1100039 :

....you get up to 37 games from outside of your region from the 1st three rounds. Combine that with the coverage from CBS and ESPN and you can experience the excitement of up to 64 games....

    In the fine print:
*Blackout restrictions and other conditions apply. Actual number of games varies by market.

Games broadcast by your local CBS affiliate cannot be viewed on MEGA MARCH MADNESS.

When your local CBS switches away, within a few minutes the MMM channel blackout is lifted. I've bought the package for the last 3 years, and they've always done that.

Yes, but we were "told" that this wouldn't be the case this year.

It's a PITA for those of us who want to record an entire game on one of the MM channels, but are stuck with our local affiliate carrying the game of interest.

Yep...OK for watching live, not good when trying to record an entire game without cutaways when the game we want is carried on our local channel.

Don't know who "told" you this, because it's in direct conflict with the written terms/policies dictated by CBS.

I believe it was discussed here, but don't have time to search for it -- have games to watch ;)

In Atlanta they multi-cast all of the games, so they chose not to offer ANY HD at all in the first two rounds....so if you want to watch the game that's being shown locally you're stuck watching it in SD.

My local CBS affiliate is showing the current game in SD, yet WCBS (ch80) is in HD.
No, I won't be calling my local.

This Atlanta thing is a disaster. The only way to watch the Georgia game is by changing the "Hide SD duplicates" option and them watching in SD (this took me 10 minutes to figure out)

$70 for MMM and every game televised locally (usually the best games) is only in SD. I don't even know who to complain to.....

    Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're familiar with how the sports packages work, they always blackout the game shown by your local affiliate or RSN. They have to by law. It’s done to protect the broadcast rights of the local broadcaster. It clearly states this in the email D* sent out about the MMM package, as well as on the website.

I don't think his complaint was with the blackout, but rather with his local affiliate not showing games in HD. I think this is a legitiate complaint--we spend all this money on these TV's and then can't even watch games in HD, even though they're being produced in HD.

Yeah same here in Eugene, OR. They have blacked out the Temple-MSU game and we are still getting PSU-Kansas on local CBS so somebody has screwed up bigtime.

Ok, now the Mich St game is back.

Having 3 tvs in one room is bad I guess, too easy to spot their many screwups.

Open all of the HD feeds! They do it for the NFL Sunday Ticket, so it isn't "illegal".
