It was a big reason for me too - at least during football season. I loved those late night random P12 games. If they are asking for 14.99/mo just for a P12 package, no thanks. This will suck even more for basketball.

edit: is the main channel part of the 14.99 or will that be in Choice/Choice Xtra?

It is intruging to have PAC 12 a la carte, but 15 bucks a month is way out of most peoples ranges.

I saw the $14.99 post too, doesn't make sense to me, that would mean DirecTV would make over $8 a sub for each person that signed up for the channels. Rumor is PAC 12 nets is asking $.80 a sub for the channel. So even if it was $.80 per channel per sub it doesn't add up. I still hold out hope Mon/Tue we hear something.

That has to be the sports pack price.
    Currently, it's $12.95.
So it would go up to $14.95.
    That's a $2.00 increase.

For those that have sports pack, this should not be an issue.
$2.00 extra to get all seven networks?
    It would be worth it.

I thought I saw more than .80 a channel in some article. Can't find it now. I doubt they are asking 80 cents in PAC 12 territory. Typically, channels get more in territory than out.

Out of which part of your anatomy are you pulling that information??? Based on the Fox Soccer Plus model, it doesn't have to be the Sports Pack price.

Since this is a niche channel, the Fox Soccer Plus model makes sense.

EDIT: Actually, that response is not totally warranted. I am mainly reacting to all of your previous "crying wolf" comments. I disagree with you, but do not have express it the way I did.

LOL, there is no way this is $14.95 ala carte.
Not that many subscribers would see it (because they're not going to want to pay that much).
The Pac-12 would not want DirecTV to charge that much, so the Pac-12 would not agree to that. The Pac-12 wants as many of DirecTV's subscribers as possible to see the network(s).

I remember seeing something that said $0.80 for all seven networks combined.
That may have been the out of market price, not sure.

No way is it 80 cents for all seven networks in market. Too cheap. Plus no one is doing all seven.

That's why it would have to be out of market (to get all 7 networks).
In market, would be your local regional network, plus the national network, at best (if you're lucky).

$14.99/month? I don't see Pac 12 going ala carte on this, except maybe out of region. But still that's a lot for something that is supposedly between 80 and 95 cents per sub. Not sure if that is a package for all.

Comcast is more than Directv, but if I have to shell out another $14.99 then its not. Direct is still going to lose folks out west if this is what it turns out to being.

Guess directv is just gonna lose a lot of subs no matter what. ;)

Let's see what happens. The price may be wrong. It may be a new sports pack price. It may be for more than the local. It may be for out of market only.

I trust no anonymous bloggers. Especially ones that campaigned for the PAC 12's side of the discussion.

I hope its the new sports pack price as it would be suicide for Direct to go the FOX soccer route with this.

They should have 3 sports pack prices, if I were them.

Sports Pack Lite: About 10 sports channels (no Fox or Comcast regional sports channels) = $5.99 per month

Sports Pack Classic: The Sports Pack we know as of now (add in Longhorn Network, 40+ channels) = $12.99 per month

Sports Pac Extreme: (spelled as "Pac". This is the Sports Pack Classic with all seven Pac-12 networks added to it. About 50 channels) = $15.99

Sports Pack Planet: (in the future this would be launched. International sports channels are added to the Sports Pac Extreme. 60+ channels) = $24.99

For the Sports Pac Extreme, I would make it $15.99 instead of $14.99.
The subscriber can then choose what sports package is best for them.

For $24.99 a month I would want ALL available sports, NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL, soccer, all college sports and all sports in between. Canada has this option.

I get your point, but DirecTV still wants you to pay for the full package.
NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Innings, NBA League Pass, NHL Center Ice, MLS Direct Kick, etc.

And I'm pretty sure those leagues want you to pay the full price of the package too.

It can also cost more money to get the rights to show international channels, including international sports channels, hence why it would cost $24.99 just by throwing in a few extra international sports channels.
Would love to see them get some European sports channels, such as Eurosport.

That would never happen at anywhere that price. You are talking only $12 more a month than the current sports pack or $144 a year. That would only pay for one of the cheapest packages per year.

An incremental discount for each package you added would be nice, however.
