No news. As a matter of fact, there is a REALLY GOOD CHANCE as of this moment you won't get to see the Friday game.

Unless of course, you switch to cable.

We really don't know at this point. They could come to an agreement today, launch in test tomorrow, launch it live on Thursday. But I have a feeling it may go past this weekend.

An option that may be available if a contract is signed at the last minute and the satellite link cannot be properly tested and activated in time for some of this weekends games, is for the PAC-12 Network provide access via their online PAC-12 NOW application.

I wouldn't anticipate that happening, but I would think that it is a possibility technology-wise. Sometimes to get things done you need the think outside the box.

That may take more work than throwing a game feed up.

We'll see. Channels could technically be launched straight to LIVE of course. (Or... with a delay of just hours). They just don't usually do that as they don't have a lot of time to fix things with the feed, and would have to fix it while the channels are live, which doesn't give DirecTV a good name if things go wrong DURING a football game.

They may just take that chance.

And we have also seen that channels can go to test without the contract being actually signed yet. (iON is still not signed, and beIN was signed in the week it was already in test - or at least so says beIN)

So, If we are going to see PAC12 this weekend... I anticipate them being in test tomorrow morning. If we don't see them in test:

    PANIC! :D

Oh no wait... you don't have to panic, as anyone in this topic probably planned for this eventuality with a cable install the day BEFORE the game they want to see is on.

I'd call that panic as well. I've been in this situation. New sports channel not on system I was at and my favorite team was not on. I was at my moms and could have gone home (2 hours) to see the game. But I didn't. I listened on the radio.

    We are so spoiled anymore.

Fortunately, I have an option...I have access to my son's TWC online access. All I would have to do is to pay for him to activate his Sports Pass ($6) and I am good. In other words...I am good either way.

IF DTV does increase the Sports Pack rate...I'll will definitely consider dropping it...

PANIC! is real. Cable does not have it in Maryland so it would not help me to switch.

It is starting to look like my plan of sleep walking at work of Friday is not going to happen. :box:

RT @wilnerhotline: Best guess on chances of Pac12 carriage deals by Thurs: DirecTV: 55-60%, Dish: 10%, Charter: 5%. Gotta plead ignorance for FIOS and U-Verse.

Officially now 48 hours until the kick off of football season on P12N, Jon Wilner still given a 55-60% chance of DirecTV carrying the channel before kickoff. I'm not sure who his sources are but no one has gotten as much correct first (dealing with the PAC-12) then he has over the past few years.

The problem with Wilner % prediction is a few days ago he had it a almost done deal 90+%. I know things always can go wrong and I'm not picking on his inside info and it is always nice to see someone that has inside info not completely writing it off.

I'll say 0% by this week and 0% for 3 weeks or until a decent matchup. As long as Oregon at USC on November 3rd is on a regular channel, then the nation of college football fans won't mind. USC & Stanford will be on Fox September 15th, so we're good there.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if pac 12 does a "free online preview" for the football games this week, kinda what bein sports did pre-launch. Not that it would help the local bars in pac-12 areas that have directv.

If you are saying free Pac 12 games preview? If you are I doubt the Pac 12 would let them without a almost signed contract.

Some new buzz going around on twitter that they just signed a deal late this afternoon (early this evening) depending on what part of the country you're from. Not sure how true that is, as we all know how the Longhorn Network rumors from yesterday turned out to be (as they apparently ended up being false).

It would be neat to think that these rumors are attributed to progress, and that a deal has been made in principle, and just hasn't been announced to the public yet until all the bells and whistles are taken care of. But who knows.

I'd wait for a more credible source than just some new buzz on twitter, but I guess that's some hope for now. Not much until it becomes official, but it's a little hope, and that's all we can go by for now, is hope at this point.

I will go ahead and predict that we will hear something tomorrow. Either closure, or a strong indicator of the progress that was needed to get this deal done. That's a bold prediction from a pessimist like me, but I will go on and predict it.

But take the rumors with a grain of salt.
And take my prediction with a grain of salt.
My predictions either hit bullseye with precision, or they completely miss.
My investments in the market either hit mega bucks, or lose a sum of cash.
I'm a high risk - high reward investor and predictor.
