Is there a way to watch your movies anywhere on the genie?
Yes, there is. First you must link your Movies Anywhere account with DIRECTV. After doing this you will be able to watch the movies in your My Movies list in your Movies Anywhere account on your Genie. Using your DIRECTV remote press LIST. Then arrow left and scroll down to Purchases and select. Then select Purchase Collection. The movies listed in your My Movies list in your Movies Anywhere account will appear. Do not be concerned with the $ symbol you see with your movies. DIRECTV lists the movies in your My Movies list as purchased PPVs.
I've never bought any movies via PPV on DirectTV so my list shows No Purchases yet. So I would have to buy something before I can merge the lists?
Huh?? Did you merge your account?
Have you linked your Movies Anywhere account with DIRECTV? If you have follow my instructions in post #5 to bring up the list of movies in your Movies Anywhere account. To the right of the names of your movies will be a $. Press Info on one of your movies, then arrow right and scroll down. There you will see "This pay per view was purchased at (time and date you linked your Movies Anywhere account with DIRECTV)".
I have a bunch of 4k on MA that it wont let me watch because I dont have a 4k receiver. Roku and the apps linked to MA all downrez, so thats a shame.
As long as DIRECTV has the 4K movie in HD, your DIRECTV Account is linked to MA, the retailer you bought the MA-eligible movie from is linked to MA, and you have a Genie, you should be able to watch 4K movies in HD format that were purchased from other linked MA retailers. If all true, you’ll see the movie in the purchased folder on the Genie with a red circle and slash. When you try playing the movie, you’ll get a msg saying that your equipment is not compatible to play 4K and asking if you want to search for a supported format. Select yes, and you will see a list of HD versions of the movie. Select one and you should be able to play it!
