Could we stick to the issue at hand, i.e. MSG HD on Center Ice?

Given that we're in the off season, the only way we can get some information is if someone knows someone in the NHL offices who will talk.
My attempts to call Center Ice gets someone's voicemail, with no reply, and e-mails to Center Ice are never answered.

So, anyone have an in at the NHL offices, or even MSG? Let us know.

I agree, I think the only way we'll know is probably when the season starts. Too bad the NHL can't answer this question when asked.

SI included a hockey article? I'm shocked. Well, they're the experts (cough cough). I guess Charles Wang looks bad in a swimsuit?

Seriously, though, look at what they wrote. It's nothing against Wang (except outdated complaints like the management by committee that ended two years ago). He believed a lying bureaucracy and stepped in to save a team. Now that he is on the brink of actually securing the Lighthouse deal (rally tomorrow people!!!), there's nothing left to fault him on. The team lost value because he has paid dearly to keep them afloat. Now, he will finally make them viable. Really bad owner in my book!

The NHL Ctr Ice pkg is useless for me without MSG HD. On the other hand, I hope the Leafs win the Cup in my lifetime.

Does anybody have a way of leveraging any social media types of services (i.e twitter/FB etc) to create greater awareness about this? I'm not that savvy in social, but it seems like if we can make something newsworthy or "funny" and make it viral on one of these sites - we could get some peoples attention.

I do have capabilities for video production and would be happy to produce a short segment that can be posted on the web or a dedicated site as well as being sent to the NHL/MSG if it would help. Just need some ideas as to what would be "newsworthy" or funny....ideas are welcome.

    Not just one article either...

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0807/nhl.islanders.follies/content.1.html

Yeah, there is nothing to fault him on.

Read the article, a lot of it falls under the idiot Wang's tenure. You can argue John Spano was a better owner. ;)

The article is from before the Dope-Landers were the worst team in the NHL this year, so it needs updating. Wang is a moron.

Well, I suppose you are welcome to look to SI for hockey information. I'll stick with the real world. Without Charles Wang, there would be no Islanders, and that would mean less revenue for the Dolans and the Ranger$ to blow on overpriced free agent has-beens.

However, to stay with the topic, only one of these owners in question is keeping us from seeing our teams in HD, and it ain't Charles Wang.

I have to admit that I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything about the MSG/HD issue by now either way. I'm beginning to think that getting info about this thing requires a higher security clearance than NORAD launch codes

The truth is the truth no matter who publishes it. Wang the Dope, along with Snow and the rest of his merry men of ineptitude, has kept you from seeing NHL hockey on the island for years.

Cute little quips doesn't make it so. The fact is, Charles Wang is good for the NHL, he is the one saving a franchise. The Dolan mob is responsible for keeping us from seeing our teams. If he wants to take his Ranger$ and go home to suck his thumb, I really don't care. If I wanted to see over-paid has-beens, I'd be watching Beckham in LA. I pay to see Islanders Hockey, and I have paid dearly for years to see them. The Dolans want to keep me (and Sabres and Devils fans) from seeing our teams, and THAT is the problem here.

P.S. You might want to put down Swimsuit Illustrated and go with a reputable source, like the Hockey News. Of course, they recently crowned Garth Snow as one of the top GM's (you know, that goalie that crazy Charles Wang fired Neil Smith for), but what would the HOCKEY News know about hockey?

Agree 100%. I'm in Dallas so I'm not up on the local "Wang" stuff but I've been an Isles fan for many years via C-Band and local WOR cable back in the 80's. Devils a close 2nd followed by the Rangers although I'm not as much a Rangers fan as I used to be when I started out on those C-Band Sportschannel MSG feeds with "Sam" & "JD". I learned a lot about the game from those broadcasts. And "Doc" / "Chico" are a top-rated team, imo. Great fun watching those Devils MSG games. even with that fuzzy Std Def feed. I still stay with that awful Std feed because of Doc & Chico's call of the games.

Be that as it may, what the heck is preventing us from hearing something about the HD feed issue recently? No news is good news? I hope....

I can't speak with regards to the Devils or Sabres, but there has been a lot of news in Islander Country which has eclipsed this issue. They just had a public hearing on the draft EIS for the Lighthouse development and well over 1000 fans packed the house for that. Finally, it really looks like the Lighthouse will get done, so the Isles will stay put, rather than going to Brooklyn, Queens, or Kansas City.

Prior to that was the drafting of John Tavares. While he's not Sidney Crosby, he's the most exciting player since Sid to be drafted. (and if the name sounds familiar, his uncle, also John Tavares, is one of the greatest lacrosse players of all time).

All in all, the notion that a small minority of Islanders and Devils fans will be deprived of seeing our teams in HD is not really big news there. (No Sabre snub intended here, but I'm sure there's other more pressing news in Western NY right now too. I just don't know what it is.)

The issue with no MSG HD on NHL CI doesn't effect local Sabres, Islanders or Devils fans. So its probably not even news worthy in the local markets.

That's the problem. Since it only effects out of market HD viewers complaining to the FCC or NY politicians isn't going to get any results.

Wow, do you just make things up as you go along? Blatantly lying about GM rankings in your beloved publication? Drinking the Wang Kool-Aid is one thing but this is ridiculous, even for an Islander fan.

Only in the world of Charles Wang does being ranked #27 out of 30 by The Hockey News entitle you to say they recently crowned Garth Snow as one of the top GM's

Nice try. Time to discredit the Hockey News now?

Perhaps you meant Wang Illustrated crowned Snow one of the top GM's ;)

I came across a petition that someone started to request an agreement be worked out to carry MSG HD on NHL CI. Not much traction right now with 84 votes, but those of us on DBStalk should be able to increase that number. May not help to sign it, but can't hurt .

You would have to assume that the MSG HD CenterIce issue still has not been resolved considering that forum member and Directv contact Satracer, has not posted even one comment on this thread.
