Are they providing the linear music video channel MC Play on Directv as well? Why don't Music Choice provide the linear music video channels they provide on their app/website on TV providers like DirecTV? They have 25 of them. It would be good if they could have a few of the main ones on TV.

As of the transponder map grab on Wednesday, nothing was in test mode for MC Play.

I highly doubt they'll be adding the 25 music video app streams on satellite, for one thing there's no place to put all of them, even if they downconvert them to SD only. However, there is an interactive function that has been in test mode for the past few weeks, so it's possible they might be available via a Genie only app using the internet streams, similar to what some other providers carrying the "new" Music Choice use.

Hopefully through a bunch of reshuffling they use the official Music Choice order this time, instead of the mismatched mess where a bunch of channels weren't carried at all, and some others that cable viewers had were limited to commercial subscribers only. They should be able to fit the core 50 channel lineup on 101, possibly the extended 75 channel lineup too.

Other than subscribing to the service directly from XM, XM is exclusive to Dish, so good luck with that. (In other words, if it did return to Directv, then that would probably mean that I would lose it as a Dish subscriber. :( )

Yea I have it in my car and the app on phone.

MC was decent when I had fios but every cable provider has them. That's why I prefer XM.

Stingray is hit and miss. The bad part is so many genres are restricted to app only like the entire Classical block, the good part is their app has a LOT of additional genres that other services don't have including some international music from Europe, Asia and Canada.

Stingray's U-Verse contract is up too this month, so it's possible they'll be getting Music Choice too.

I haven't read anything definitive, but with it appearing in the guide listings, it seems to be coming.

There has been a music choice test channel on Directv for a few weeks, so they seem to be moving in that direction. However, there was a test channel for Pac 12 for a week or two a couple years back when they were last talking but nothing came of it. So you never know, they could be negotiating right now but never quite come to an agreement.

Glad to see a change. I really could never get into Sonic Tap. I've had Directv since 2006 but remember Music Choice when I had Time Warner before Directv. It was good at that time and it had screen backgrounds. Not sure what the current Music Choice service is like today. If Music Choice still has screen content I wonder if we will get that or if the format will be similar to what we have today. Thinking maybe any additional video will require additional bandwidth. We will see on 2.10 but whatever it will be I think it's going to be a nice change.

On cable they have the backgrounds that change to show trivia, information, still pictures and ads. Since they are still images, its just a mpeg2 keyframe every so often. I wouldn't be surprised if Music Choice HQ had some sort of computer program to schedule the screen changes across their 50+ feeds in such a way to minimize bandwidth. On Cable, in MPEG2 format usually a provider can fit all of music choice, plus 4 SD video channels in one 38.8 mbps 256QAM stream. I hope Music Choice Play HD comes to DirecTV as well as the interactive features in TV Apps. I do like the iHeartRadio and Pandora apps, so Music Choice would be another great add. Music Choice on demand had a pretty nice library of concerts and music video's on Cable, so if we get that as well it would be a great addition to the lineup.

As of today, no sign of Music Choice Play or Music Choice on Demand in test mode.

However, an interactive function has been in test mode for the past few weeks, which will probably end up being a genie only app for Music Choice and will probably contain the 25 music video app channels via internet streaming similar to what other providers who have the "New" Music Choice do.

I know I’m jumping the gun, but i found that Music Choice has an ios app. DirecTV is not yet listed as a provider in the app. Not that there isn’t already a plethora of streaming audio providers out there, but I’m always up for more options.

Anyone have any experience with the MC app? Does it support casting to a Chromecast Audio by any chance?

I have Mediacom cable and do NOT get the Music Choice channels on my package, however I was able to login to the Music Choice website with my Mediacom credentials and play the video channels anyway...
