Discovery put up a little "behind-the-scenes" of the new season of Mythbusters which they are dubbing Mythbusters 2.0. Looks like they did some major tinkering to help build up the sagging ratings. Although.... putting the show on a Saturday night? Wasn't it on Wednesdays... or was it Sundays?

I can never remember when shows are on, they just show up in my list of recordings :)

The rumor is that they originally did want Kari Grant and Tory but things broke down in contract negotiations.

I think Kari is shopping a show with Steve Wozniak.

I still have not watched shows from last season ... but that 2.0 preview looks interesting. Hopefully the new graphics don't get in the way too much. This isn't Bill Nye or Neil Degrasse Tyson. Lets keep it fun.

I've watched both episodes of the new season and I have been pleasantly surprised.
It's been a lot better than I expected.
It feels a lot more streamlined.
More lean and focused I guess.
    Opening credits are completely different.
Adam is still silly but not so silly you want to change the channel.
It's very much how it was in the first season.

Without the forced animosity. The second episode was not overrun by poop and ball jokes ... which is appreciated.

I wonder if it was Adam's decision to quit being so silly non stop or was he ordered to knock it off?
Maybe they threatened to replace him with Kari or one of the other's they booted off the show.

I actually do like it as well, though I hope Kari Grant and Tori move on to other things and are successful.

Seems the theme so far is to go after things from recent movies since episode 3 is the A Team.

I haven't seen the preview, would hope it's more the series than the movie.

And I'm not sure Indiana Jones is recent, but it's all a matter of perspective.

Maybe I should say, scripted action movies and TV series.

After the A-team, it's video games

I've only seen the Simpsons episode and it was enjoyable

The show is more focused on what it takes to actually do some of the things seen in movies, tv and video games and whether it's possible to actually perform the stunt in real life.

Though they really haven't gone back to the true myths like they used to. I still want to see if it's actually possible for someone to light their hands on fire after using alcohol disinfectant.

So what did you guys think of the shortened, 6 episode season? I liked it overall.

They say more will be coming, not sure if that means more season 6 after a hiatus or not. Overall, I did like it as well, more than I thought I would to be honest.

I thought the Mythbusters 2.0 'season' was pretty good as far as content and production. Wasn't sure how it would work with Adam and Jamie alone, but it worked. Too bad the season is over already. I can't stand these shows with 5 episode seasons. What a waste!

Yeah, too short. The only explanation I have is that they wanted to try a few episodes under a new format, see what the reaction is, and then go back to tweak it some more. Especially since it's a radical change.

The problems I have is that they premiered the episodes right around NFL playoffs on a Saturday night. That's not right.

Of course the other thing is, how many hours went into creating those few shows. We tend to forget everything that goes into it.
