N.C. State women's basketball head coach Kay Yow dies at age 66

    N.C. State women's basketball coach Kay Yow died today,after a long battle with breast cancer.She was diagnosed with it in 1987.She was 66 years old.
    Here are some highlights of her career:
    Won over 700 games during her coaching career.
    Coached the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team to a gold medal.
    Won four ACC tournament championships,earned 20 NCAA Tournament bids and reached the Final Four in 1998.
    She was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2002.
    R.I.P. Kay.

    She was fairly young considering that it seems like she has been NC State's coach forever. I saw this news when I first got up today, and wasn't sure I was seeing it until it was repeated again.

    I guess I'm not completely surprised as it seems she was having a worse time of things lately and having to step away from coaching this year... but she had been fighting so long you just got used to her and began to think she might outlast the cancer.

    Coach Yow is a big deal in this area and will be sorely missed.
