I cannot see NASA tv in HD. I called yesterday and they told me I was set with the correct plan and equipment. I only see the slide telling me to call to get the channel. Is NASA tv HD even turned on yet ? The CSR seemed confused and me too.

But seriously, if there is not anything on 110 now, what would stop them from putting the HD version on it in ADDITION to the SD version on D12? If they used one of their old mpeg2 encoders, people with old Hughes E86 and DirecTivo's could even watch it. Heck, turn off the encryption on it too, and make it a public service channel (it doesnt cost them anything), and all the FTA'ers would watch it, and spark interest in DirecTv.

I say that since DirecTv wont authorize any old non-RID boxes for subscriptions, and there are a lot of those out there.

It is on. Check channel 9508, 9509, 9510, and 9511 and make sure you get all 4 of those. If you do, your system is set up correctly to get it, and your receiver might need a reauthorization (you can do this from the website, or call in and have them do it).

NASA is still a SD channel just in MPEG-4 now. It is not HD but you must have HD equipment because DIRECTV does not have standard def receivers that do MPEG-4, excluding the R22 for argument sake.

So if you cannot see the channel at all then check the channels Dave posted but if you're concern is that it's only in SD then you are getting what it's supposed to be.

NASA was moved off the 101 to make room for NBCU which was added.

I'm not sure about what the goals are with the conus in the 110/119 but I think it's obvious that the spaceways are going to be setup to support Latin America viewers as they'er offloading US locals from them.

They could also use the spaceways to do VOD for HD PPVs. I think the Spaceways for first designed for the Hughes Internet Service. If they could use the Spaceways for HD PPVs, that could free up some space for more HD channels.

I use a custom channel list to avoid the non-English channels - I had to add back NASA tv to my list. luckily I did it before Fridays launch.
