Don't feed the troll...
Why would my brain hurt? There is nothing there that is not plainly true and out there for everyone to see.
Are you denying anything that I posted? Because that would make you a liar.
What I have stated is common knowledge to everyone else in the world, yet you want to believe that some other unknown force is involved. Why don't you please post a link from NASCAR or anywhere else that even remotely contradicts what I have posted?
Why are befriending someone who clearly insulted you on the last page? He called you a simpleton and holds himself superior to you because you base your purchasing decsisions on your support for a driver.
Don't worry, he won't be fed anymore, zappin' the ignore button works better
Interesting discussion. I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of economics except for the basic fact that if you don't have money, you don't spend. Odd concept, no?
But in regards to Hotpass, I tend to believe that this season it's a case of NASCAR basically saying, "Our boy Jr. gets a channel. Case closed." That might sound simplistic to our economic genius but this season it's just not a case of fans shelling out dough to see Hotpass so I can't see how we can assume that the Jr. fans are paying for it. That and the fact that the freaking majority of people who watch races are not Direct TV subscribers.
My conclusion is based on common sense. The Jr. Phenomenon carries over into every aspect of the NASCAR world. He can finish in 25th place and Fox/ESPN will hustle to get an interview with him before they'll interview the guy who finished 4th. Don't mock me because I've seen it happen multiple times. That's just one example, but the Jr. obsession is just a fact that the fans of other drivers have learned to live with...often with a great deal of amusement. We do, however, gain a lot of comfort from the fact that our drivers have actually won championships and frankly, for me, that's better than any Hotpass channel. Again, I mean no disrespect to Jr. He's a cool guy and I like him.
So, right now, I'm content to watch the network channel and enjoy the race in glorious HD with the sound muted. I've pretty much stopped checking the 700 channels.
You said it!
Odd? No. Irrelavant? Yes.
They said that the previous two seasons as well when it wasn't free. The intent of the free version is the same as the paid, to bring customers to DirecTV (and keep the one already there). Obviously, a driver that controls 40% of the fan base is not going to be excluded from this package as they bring a much larger potential customer base than any other driver.
What does this have to do with anything? The percentage of Jr fans to other fans is the same.
Mostly correct, but it's not a "phenomenon". It's simply the result of his marketing power and the desire of NASCAR and sponsors to exploit it.
wonder if we going to just not have the fox broadcast today....
nvm. back up now.
Well so far this week.....
The Team Audio is still WORTHLESS!!!!
figure that by now they would of found a voulme level that would allow you to hear the team audio over the fox broadcast when they are talking. The current level isn't the worst its been this season, but is NO WAY NEAR what is SHOULD BE!! If the broadcasters are talking at all you can't hear anything clear spoken over the team radio!!
Seems like such an easy fix as all that would satisfy me would be having the team audio a few notches louder and that way when they talk you could hear them over the broadcasters if both talkin at same time.
Was kind of perfect there when they lost the network feed, except there is no engine audio. Can we get that added please?
That and you couldn't see where the other cars were running besides the scrolling ticker.
Main thing is if the announcers are tlaking at same time crew audio is worthless, esp drivers, unless they yell.
I have Edwards on one set and the volumn level for the crew keeps changing. At times the network is low enough to hear the crew, at others it is worthless.
I have refused to use Jrs channel. Will try the other two later.
Update: Both Kahne and Johnson's channels are horrible for audio. You can hear they are talking, but it is so mumbled like that I can't understand but a word or two.
I dunno if someone was trolling in the thread today that is an engineer for DirecTV or has some pull there, but I think it might of gotten a lot better....
I may be wrong but I just walked out of the room and could clearly hear the crew audio over the announcers. tried this on the 88 and 99's HD feeds here.
though i did think this last week and after awhile it got worse again so we shall see if this improvement holds for the rest of the race....
Oh yeah its deff better least on the 88 channel!! Almost as if they turn down the announcers a lil some right when crew audio is taking place. If thats not it then they least turned the crew audio up a lot.
Thanks to whoever had a hand in this getting done! Lets hope it holds up for rest of year at least bit.
Didn't listen to Jr, but the other three have greatly improved. Let's hope this is permanent, even if Smoke isn't on a dedicated channel.
now if they could just get it uncensored..........hehe think we all know that wont happen now, esp now that its free.
Well with that censoring comment I just made, now in the past 15min i've herd jr. curse at least 5times clearly. Dropping the F-bomb and sayin Sh!T too......
DirecTV gods looking out it seems!!
YES, YES, YES, don't change a thing. I can hear JR. et. al. with no censorship. Don't change a thing DTV and I'll be tellin all my friends.
Thanks D* for the major improvements to the hotpass audio keep up the good work 2 thumbs up :up:
I also heard Junior... Jeez he's got quite the mouth... should call him Gutter Gums!!
Carl is too polite ... he had God awful pit stops and he hardly said anything...
