and yet no word on HP - strange indeed. 8 days till the 1st race.

Yep, caught that last evening. Was hoping to read something this am. Maybe later. Still, if no word next week, networks are known to do a quick change in programming. Since there isn't an additional charge to view Hotpass, I think that will be what will happen.

They will simply announce next weekend that "Hotpass" is now available to all Directv subscribers. If I recall, Directv has the capability of knowing the exacting number of subscribers who view a program. Maybe if the numbers improve over the "Hotpass PAID subscriber" numbers it will prove that Hotpass can and does work .... in some form or another.

Just my opinion, which around my home doesn't mean a lot sometimes.

Well then, give US the papers and we can all sign off on them; if this is the case. (And we pen and ink in that NO censoring will occur :D.)

Part bold by me. No censoring would be awsome!!!! If your paying for something IMO it shouldn't be censored period.

The censoring is frustrating but NASCAR mandates it. They don't like their superstars being heard dropping repeated f-bombs on live TV. I don't have as much a problem with the censoring as I do with how poor a job they do of censoring. However, if it's a choice between getting a censored Hotpass or no Hotpass at all I will gladly take the censored Hotpass.

Ha ... watch junebug and smoke work together ... just who finishes first will be smokin'.

As for Hotpass, I really suspect WHEN we do get a waterdown version of Hotpass, I would really hope Directv learned a lesson from 08 on button pushing. When to push and when to release.

Well Directv is not in the TV compound here at Daytona. It's too bad, their broadcast truck/featherlite were very cool. I don't have any insider information on directv's programming but I haven't heard about any special feeds coming out of the FOX truck either.

I like how trackpass is free but HATE the fact that their audio feed is soooooooo far behind real time. HotPass was much better with this, they were no where near the 10sec delay that I typically get with Trackpass. Just annoying hearing the crew chief call out how far the pit stall is and your driver is about to leave the pit on TV. Id wanna say HP's was about 3sec delay at most there.

crossing fingers here and hoping for something good to be announced. Not having the hauler there doesn't mean too much as that was the main cut in production cost for them.

    Teays...
In reality, if there were to dedicate several channels to in-car shots and maybe other camera angles, then the cost to produce would be negligible. But it might get them a bunch of new subs.

As for in-car audio, I would guess that it will go away. If they censor a product you pay for, then they will surely do it for one that is free.

Is that an actual DirecTV add or an add from a Dealer?

I'm getting the feeling that HotPass will be the Super Channel we were offered last year, only. You'll get to choose your drivers audio while watching the network feed. Just a hunch. Who knows?

They'll probably just use the network in car cameras and bring us those drivers.

There are no channels in the 700's for HotPass coverage though.

Last year, I didn't get my 700's until the evening before the 500 .... I was on the phone to Directv a couple of days prior and they kept telling me I had them and to wait until Sunday, the day of the race and I would get them. So maybe that is what they are doing this season.

Was pleased with Smoke's performance last night. Might not have been 1st, but a 3rd was dang good.

Well I hope they get on the ball soon. And I hope having hotpass still on my account doesn't charge me anything extra.

Just watched the shootout, was out celebrating last night. You're right, 3rd is not bad at all for a team a lot of people thought would suck. And he led for a bit too!

It's going to be hard getting used to following a Red car since I kept thinking Kasey was him in the shootout. It was much easier to find him in big orange. :(

I'm watching qualifying now. I really wish FOX would get rid of Larry MacReynolds, he's a complete tool.
