Or if they invite you over to watch the game on their new HD flatscreen and they have cable with no HD channels! How do you break the news?
That's hilarious that you say that, my wife and I were over at an old (previous) neighbors house to visit and they bought a 46" 1080P tv and the Wisconsin Badgers game was just starting. Take a look at the game, no cable converter and the picture was converted for analog tv hookup. Just awful.

I actually know people like that. I had two HD Sony CRT TVs for a couple years before I switched to HD. I didn't buy them specifically for HD at the time because the prices of upgraded HD TiVos was so high. Figured that price would come down and it did and I bought/leased the HRs.
The guy across the street from me had a plasma on his wall for six years before he got an HD source. Paid about $6000 for that thing, I think.
