Should the DIRECTV UI warn you about losing unsaved content?

    No, I don't.

I can see where some people might want it, but for our own use.... if I really want to keep something and make sure I don't lose it, I'll record it.

Email from Directv: "For those of you that have well behaved children, don't watch sports, and generally Know where you are in life, and don't want another annoying pop up, there will be a $5 blocking surcharge added to your monthly bill."

    NO.

When watching a sporting event live, just hit the record button to be safe.

And I'd want it because I'm stupid.

A second push of the channel up/down would over-ride this, or a Select if you were direct accessing the new station or using Quick View. It could also be permanently defeated for all you folks who are smarter than me, which I see from the poll is a lot. :p

Don't be so hard on yourself Spock. Below average, maybe, but I wouldn't say stupid.

More likely there'd be a surcharge to add the option to activate the pop-up, which IMHO should've been present long ago.

A sticky note on the remote will work just as well, you can buy them in bulk at Sams. Of course you will have to remember to write thyself a note.

    I agree 100%

No, but I am easily irritated.

Never watch an important game without first hitting the record button. This way you will never need a popup.

For that situation to occur there would actually have to be scoring in soccer.

++ a bunch. I can't believe how annoying the DP pop-ups already are. Especially annoying is the last bigger one. No new pop-ups for common functions please.:nono2:

No new pop ups. It would be nice to get the option on what pop ups we would see though. Turn some on or off. Maybe something in Setup.

As seemingly the only fan of this idea here, let me add that it should also be on Select when you're using the Guide. That's usually where I ge...

...excuse me, I have to go. My refrigerator is beeping at me. Either I left its door ajar or I just got some voice mail. I'm not sure which.

    !rolling

However, IMHO, if I'm rewound in the buffer I should be able to watch all of that's left of the buffer when both tuners start recording. It's the only thing I miss about my old TiVo.

What I would like to see is if you are not live and you change channels Double Play automatically turns on so it will save your buffer.

A few times I have been watching something from the buffer and hit channel up/down by mistake and lost the buffer so Double Play kicking in would be nice but I don't think I would like having a message.

Now that is a perfect solution. No popup, everything happens in the background.
