I have it, and we like the college football on it. I've watched a couple of concerts as well. We're really looking forward to the NFL in 4k.

It didn't feel like we jumped through too many hoops at all. I already had an HR54. I simply replaced one of my HR24's at the time with a C61K. YMMV

And - it's no additional charge for 4k. (If you don't count a possible contract extension.)

Depends on your viewing tastes. I upgraded to 4K service in 2016 and didn't have to jump through hoops to get it. Through those years I enjoyed quite a few music concerts and live sporting events and some free 4K movies. I find the content on channel 104 a nice change of pace from the repetitive content of non 4K channels. And now we have Thursday Night Football in 4K to look forward to.

Well I’m going to try to get my monthly overall costs down by dumping Premiere level and try to go with just HBO and Showtime (those are the only “movie” channels we watch) and right now we just have a Samsung 4K 60” downstairs in the man cave. Are all NFL games in 4K or just a select few?

    Look Here:

Watch 4K Movies, TV Shows & Live Events | DIRECTV

There are 'See Schedule' buttons you can click on.

Note: That site may not list all of D*'s 4k content. They don't seem to update it very often.

Not enough 4K sports to interest me. Not enough 4K content to interest me. Plenty of 4K content to be found on streaming sites.

I'm wanting to upgrade to 4K and use DTV, but am I correct that none of the regular channels are in 4K? Just the above? By now I was expecting more 4K content available. Does YTTV offer any channels in 4K?

There are no regular channels produced in 4K. The only 4K 24/7 channels are showcase style channels showing what could be considered sample content. Where the major channels produce any 4K content it is not enough to have a 24/7 4K feed for each channel. Such special content is made available on one of DIRECTV's 4K channels.

You can get 4K on Amazon and Netflix. There's a lot of 4K content streaming. But, if you buy a good 4K set you are gonna be stunned by the upscaling those sets do. That's where I see the value in a 4K set. Couple a 4K TV to an Apple TV box or a Fire TV device and you get a great picture. Use a 4K TV on D* and you will be surprised by how good the PQ becomes when upscaled. Black Friday is coming and the sales on TV sets will begin shortly, now is the time to do the research. We can help you with that selection.

The "regular" tv networks don't produce shows in 4K since every local station would have to convert to 4K for them to actually use that. So you get some special sports and movies etc. Fox tried a 4k football game last week and apparently it was a technical disaster.
