Stew, where can you find a list of which satellites and transponders carry which channels
DIRECTV Transponder/Channel Maps - Data 7/27/08- All Sats
Sixto's (and P. Smith's) tp/channel map for D10 and D11
wow - lots of great information. Thank you!!
Did any of the suggestions end up working? I have the same problem with "0" signal readings on some 101 transponders -- 3, 5, 7, 9 and sometimes 11 -- but only with tuner 2. Tuner 1 signal readings are all fine. I get some 771 messages on channels that are on those transponders, presumably when it's using tuner 2. Signal readings on many of the other transponders are also quite a bit lower with tuner 2 than tuner 1.
The other oddity is that it will clear up for a few minutes if I do a cable swap, BBC swap or restart, but then it goes back to the same problem a few minutes later.
I've tried swapping BBCs, swapping cable feeds, restarts. I haven't yet tried moving another receiver to the same tuner 2 cable feed to try it or the overnight cold reboot suggested above.
Signal levels on all of the other satellites seem to be fine on both tuners -- problem is only with 101.
I called D*, and had a tech tell me the receiver only uses tuner 2 to record shows and doesn't use it at any other time -- figured I wasn't going to get any useful information out of him.
I don't want them to send a tech out at $80 if it is definitely a bad receiver.
What IRD model is it?
It's an HR20-100S
I had that issue with my HR20-100 when i first got it. had it swapped for a -700 and the problem went away. I have a similar problem now with my 21-100.
If those final steps don't correct this issue, your best bet is to report that your receiver is "stone cold dead." When you send it back, put a note on it as to what's actually wrong with it. "Tuner 2 defective on 101 satellite." Hopefully, someone will care.....
Thanks guys -- tried the cold reboot overnight -- no dice. It's still not right. I just brought my other receiver, an H20-100, down to try it. It has no problem with either of the HR20's cable feeds. Signals are all in the 90s on the H20 on transponders that show "0" with the HR20.
I'll give D* another buzz today and just tell them it's broken, which it is.
Like "no panel lights" broken.....
