Is it best to leave the HR20 on all the time or shut it off when the TV is off? I also record things so if it is off will it wake and record?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

It will "wake and record", even if it's set to "off". It's never really "off" unless it's unplugged because the hard drive is always spinning. I just leave mine on.

It really makes no difference in the long run.
I just shut it off, as the remote shuts everything down at once.... plus then I don't have the blue glow of two HR20's lighting up my living room

I shut mine off too. My universal remote turns off everything with one button. When the HR20 is recording, the only thing you'll see (when it's off) is an amber LED on the front.

Thanks all for the info. I never shut my older TiVos off or my H20 in the bedroom but, like Earl said, those blue lights could bring down a jetliner. Plus I have the RC32RF from DTV and it shuts both down unless I flick the switch over to TV 1st.

    Thanks again!

Did you get the RC32RF with the HR20, or did you have to order it seperately?

He must have ordered it. HR20 only comes with the RC24.

Don't have HR20 yet but I saw somewhere that the light can be dimmed.

Yeap - it goes from extremely bright down to just bright in 3 steps. But you have to do it from the front panel not the remote.

Sorry for the long delay in responding, I've been away from the computer for a while. Anyway, I did call to order the remote and it came to $27 but I ended up getting it for free (plus a lot of credits) because the installers pulled 3 no shows with no calls to cancel. I finally got the HR20 installed on the 4th appointment.
