    With the monthly bill comes the latest Customer Agreement. I've noticed 2 items that appear new to me, but perhaps they have been included in the past.

    $5. late fee if not paid by the Due Date.
    Update: This was in my old Agreement but previously posted on this board this fee would not be charged until your billing cycle date.

    $10. Change of Service Fee if changing to a lower priced package.
    Update: This was in my old Agreement, so nothing new here.

    So both of these are not new. Wonder if they could come into play later...

    One thing that is new: contract commitment for SD accounts is now 18 months vs 12 months previously.

    Are you sure? I'm asking because when I signed up for Directv in 2004 I had an 18 month contract. (SD only)

    I thought the SD commitment was 18 months when you got a SD DVR and 24 months when you get a HD box.

    DVR = advanced equipment = 24 months.

    All of a sudden I am not 100% sure anymore, but I swear that on the old lease agreements for my customers it said 12 months for SD

    The point here, is that they can charge $10 for downgrading to a lower cost package. Like I stated before, one CSR has already told me she was going to charge me the fee, but she never did. But its there whenever D+ want to enforce it. Hopefully not for a long time.

    The verbiage is certainly confusing. Here's what the change is.

    Previously, committments were 18 months for standard receivers and 24 months for advanced receivers.

    Now, if you are activating as a new customer the committment is 24 months regardless of receiver type.

    If you are an existing customer and add an additional receiver, committment is 12 months for standard receivers and remain 24 months for advanced.

    Hope it helps,

    Only on new customer activations. After that it's 12 months.
