Looks like the same movies, just at different times. Wouldn't just putting the movies on HBO/Max on Demand save a lot of bandwidth to be used for HD channels people want.

    Sorry, not me. I don't have a 3D TV. I don't subscribe to premiums.

Some overlap, but not much. Each channel carriers a significant portion of content only on their Plex. I'll have to dig up the percentage.

I have been watching Universal Sport Channel OTA via my AM21 box. And it is free. It is not being broadcast in HD. So why would I pay for it?

You wouldn't, but other may. The channel isn't available OTA in all areas.

I know that for some this doesn't seem meaningful (admittedly I am not a big premium watcher myself) but it fulfills promises made years ago to get all the premiums in HD. I think we can check that off the list now.

You would have to have a fast internet connection to enable using VOD in HD on a regular basis. Where I live, in a rural area 1.5 down is the fastest that CenturyLink offers and they are the only game in town, plus we are lucky to have that. For the urban/suburban dwellers with the higher speeds available, some telephone companies/cable companies impose bandwith caps, you would easily go over a bandwith cap downloading a bunch of movies in HD.

YOU don't have to and it's not all about YOU. Most DirecTV subs don't have OTA setup, so this is a good addition. It'd be better in HD.

+1 as to the TV. Glad that some are getting a festivus today. Like others I do not watch many movies and the only premium I have right now is Starz for Torchwood and as soon as this finishes, I will drop it until the next season. Even with Netflix, I mostly watch British TV shows we can't get here in the US.
