Why on Earth is D* putting on FSN NY HD and MSG HD in Sept. and YES Network HD in October?

Baseball season on the RSNs will be over by 1 October. Hockey season starts in early October.

Should be the other way around... ;-) YES HD in Sept. and MSG/FSN NY HD in October.

Very soon. There are many reported possible dates, but no guaranteed dates yet. Sometime before the end of the month is most reliable for a bunch of channels, with high expectations for either new channels or a firm announcement by the 16th or 19th.

So now that I've truly muddied the picture, your guess is as good as anyone's right now. :)

There have always been commericals on DirecTV. It's the content providers that add the commericals (most of them anyway), DirecTV just sends the signal to us.

Also, nothing says any broadcaster has to transmit in HD (720/1080), they just have to have digital broadcasts and EDTV provides that (480).

If your perceived value advantage goes away, the balance of your 24 month programming commitment will keep you around until Fall 2009.

YES has been HD all baseball season, as has SNY (although most road games are in HD for SNY). I'm not sure why they put that channel on the list of NEW HD channels. MSG and FSY are new HD channels for D* which is a departure for Cablevision's hard line on those channels as the "exclusive" carriers of HD for those channels.
