Annoyingly the BBC show loads of travel shows in the UK that I would love to see in HD, even shows like "Grand Designs" which takes the "Grand Tour" and looking at Italian architecture would qualify as travel

Yes they do. We got two RSN HD channels (main and alternate) last month because more then 1 local team was playing at the same time.

Looking forward to tomorrow and the coming months. :)

Im still a huge D fan, but the snail like HR21 forced me to try Uverse last March. I still have both ,but watch Uverse 99% of time. Ive watched MSNBC HD for months, TRAVEL HD for a year. Last week, they added HLN HD, Discovery Kids HD, TruTV HD and TCM HD(!!!). North by Northwest looked sooo good. Much better than new Directv Cinema channels and a "3-D tier".

AMEN brother. I'm giddy with excitement and it's barely Tuesday. I might have to hit some Nyquil if I'm to get a decent night's sleep, but I wouldn't want it any other way. The long wait is almost over... :D

It means that both sides have to agree on a price. AMC want $x for carriage and D* want to pay $z. AMC believe their programmes are worth more than D* want to pay. Probably highlighting shows such as "Mad Men" that deserve more but D* are thinking they don't want to be paying an over the odds when MM is no-longer around

Funnily it does take two to tango, with BBCA D* keep asking but there's no one around to dance with. Fortunately a new president looks to be announced his name is Herb Scannel formerly MTV network exec

    Some of us.

I have PBS in HD. I have all my locals in HD (including CW..nice of you to list a local network twice). That leaves BBCA, AMC, G4, IFC. I would love BBCA for Doctor Who (pretty much only) and IFC would be nice. As for AMC, I have access to it via Fios. It is no great shakes. Grainy picture with lots of commercials. I put AMC way down on my list. (Not a fan of Mad Men but when I did watch it, the DirecTV on Demand PQ was good enough, almost as good as the AMC HD is cause the AMC HD is pretty much a joke.)

    "Unpublished feud"? Hyperbole extrapolated. :)

"Deserve to know"? Yeah, right. :)

In what industry does the customer get to know the details of the vendors' negotiations for the raw materials? That is one of several heavily guarded secrets to remain competitive with the rest of the market.

Now, if you want to talk feuds, think about Vs. & Comcast against everyone else. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

I think that may be where the issue lies. One person's scraps are another person's treasure.

For instance, of the channels coming tomorrow, I only care about one channel (Hallmark Movie Channel) with the rest being of little (WGN America) to no interest (the rest). However, I fully understand that there are those out there who find the other channels of value...

... so I wait patiently until there comes a time when I can get a bigger Festivus.

Was Maruuk referring to a local CW or HD-DNS feeds for 384/385?!

The CW logo on my avatar is for HD feeds of 384/385.

Ironic really! The Blu-ray releases of "Mad Men" have been breathtakingly gorgeous!

While AMC is certainly on my Top Ten list of most-wanted HD channels, I'd probably want it for programming like "Breaking Bad" and future shows (like "The Walking Dead"), as I'll probably wait to watch "Mad Men" on Blu-ray as I seriously doubt AMC-HD will look half as good on DirecTV as the show looks on Blu-ray.

I don't base it on personal opinion or preference though. Some channels are just more popular than others. The ratings show that. There are a few good ones left out there, but the rest aren't exactly high value targets. Regardless, I want them all. :D

Odds are that it's even more complicated than that. :(

AMC is owned by Rainbow Media. A company that owns 5 other channels... at least for of which are available in HD (IFC, We, Sundance), so you can bet your sweet bippy that any negotiations with Rainbow Media regarding AMC has Rainbow trying to force IFC-HD, We-HD, and Sundance-HD on DirecTV as well!
