    I know! :(

However, AMC has done a VERY good job with their original programming... and as Hoosier205 stated, they did change their name from American Movie Classics to AMC... to signify their change in direction.

As I said, I'll probably skip the AMC airings of "Mad Men" and wait for the Blu-ray releases, but as soon as I catch up with "Breaking Bad" (on Blu-ray), I will be watching it on AMC as well as "The Walking Dead", and I'll give "Rubicon" a try.... as well as possibly other new shows from AMC in the works.

Any channel that produces original programming is to be commended over channels that show nothing but "Reality TV" crap!

If it is a linear stretch you can do that with some TVs but not all of them. However most of the stations are now using a non linear stretch that almost no TV can undo. It's horrible and I wish all of those stations would quit doing it.

Just about every 16:9 TV out there has a function to stretch 4:3 content to fill the screen, as do most HD cable boxes, stallite receivers, etc. Let people who want it stretched do it with their TV/receiver, don't force the stretch on all of us.

I'm not much of a WGN fan, but I will take a look at the Cubs - Phillies game on Thursday if it's in HD. I'll also look forward to the Philadelphia Mummers Parade next January 1 in HD.

I'm also curious to see if Keith Olbermann's desk in HD is really as cheesy as it looks in SD.

    No.

Neither of my TVs allow me to unstretch stretched material. They do not have that setting. One is Sony and the other Vizio.

Cannot disagree on that point. Just that AMC's have not caught my fancy. I do love Entourage and a few other shows (The Tudors is a guilty pleasure; it is not horrible and not great) but a lot of them I watch a bit then find them uninteresting (like Hung, or Treme or that vampire thingee).

Cubs do do some nice HD. As does WGN generally. Even their 4:3 SD programming looks sooo much better in HD.

I don't get CW OTA here, just get the SD CW via D*. Nor do I get HD LILs here. So what's the problem with D* offering CW-HD nationally? I know a lot of folks get it in HD via their HD-LILs since they have a local CW broadcaster. Is it just another money issue a la AMC?

Not a problem but you made it out to be a huge issue (and it may be for you not not for the majority).

Who in your area is providing you with CW HD? Probably no one? So you bash DirecTV for not providing it?

Criticize them for not delivering something everyone else does but criticize them for not giving you something no one does?

Again, this is a CW issue mostly.

Actually i was talking about HBO/Cinemax, why do we only have the main channels in HD. But i guess the answer would be the same, just change the names

Is Hallmark Movie channel different than Hallmark channel? Sorry I don't watch it very much and my guide only shows Hallmark.

    Thanks

As well wikipedia says Hallmark Channel Changed its name from March2010, and now it's new name is Universal?
