Exactly, and that is why I put all the $$$$ and am reluctant to drop directv. I like being able to record all my favorive shows, not just 2 at a time. At verizon I would try to get by with 3 or so. They don't hold the 2 terabyte storage my hr20 does either. Every provider has their strengths and weaknesses. Nobody else comes close to $5 per dvr per month! I will try to find the regional sports .xls file, edit in the directv channel numbers and attach here. I won't combine with national hd channel list.
Actually I found that list over at avsforum also but I don't think those channels are valid for this discussion. Directv has the leadership in regional sports channels but not by that much unless we pay the extra for the season pass. I only watch a few shows on these channels. This is about national hd channels and premium hd channels. Compared to dish and verizon directv is missing several. Before commiting to 2 year contracts people desire to know whats available during that time period. OK here it is. I don't guarantee that it is correct. I haven't finished color coding packages.
Nice list, ty. I agree with the "National HD channel" angle as well. We'd like them all and we'd like them now. Until then, for sports, D* has it over E* and that'll probably never change. Other than sports, the list indicates E* has the edge at the moment. Also an update to the list, E* does carry NFL Redzone HD on 155 and Centric HD on 371.
Well this file is only a picture (.gif file). I can't edit this. Thought it was a .xls file. I printed it out and
wrote the channel number next to the name. Not fun scrolling thru 75 regional sports channels all the time.
Maybe I will add these channels to the other list. Im only filling in directv channels though.

Thanks. I appreciate the support. I won't maintain this list forever but for now I will try to get it complete and accurate for the los angeles area. Some channels may change by region. Not really sure. I got most of the channel numbers from providers website, but some came from wikipedia. And some numbers just changed. Therefore it may never be perfect. The blue is basic plan. Green is next level up. Yellow is highest level. Red is premium. Pink is extra packs. Dark red is sports pack. Changed the name.

Just got a D* add this morning which is March 14th and it has in it the full color banner of coming HD channels and the Travel Channel, MSNBC, and a few others are implied to be included in the 200 HD channels, considering they are all bundled with the current channels that are availible in HD. Makes you say Hmmmmm!
