Hi, My parents in south jersey just got Dish network. They are in the philadelphia market.

I'm still getting use to their whole system. I noticed their satellites are 77 72 61.5

We Tried to order the multi sport for them but they only have 1 dish and the numbers mentioned above they are unable to recieve the channels.

They said a 2nd dish and I guess other satellite are needed.

My guess is their anyone who has the multisport and what satellite is it.

Obviously their are no regional sports networks in the phila market.

    thanks

If they a have a single dish for 61.5/72.7/77 then they should be able to get all non-Latino services off of that configuration. That would be a 1000.4 dish for the "eastern arc" set of satellites. Dish also has sats at 110/119/129 but they essentially duplicate what is on the eastern arc sats.

Which dish and specific sats did "they" ( I assume you meant a Dish CSR) said was needed?

yes all inquires I had I spoke directly to a Dish rep. I inquired about adding the multi sport and they said a 2nd dish was needed my guess the other 3 satellites mentioned in your response were for that.

they have a huge dish i wouldnt say worldwide but pretty big.

I don't believe there is anything on 110, 119, 129 that you would need in Philadelphia that is not already on 61.5, 72.7 and 77.

Call back and have them specify which satellite the service is from, possibly 118?

The Echostar Knowledge base lists 10 of them: 61.5°, 77°, 105°, 110°, 118°, 119°, 121°, 129°, 148°, and 157°. However, that list is obviously out of date, as it doesn't include 72.7°. Also, some of the ones listed may be obsolete and no longer in use.

But at least it's enough to say that there are lots of 'em. :D

But usually either 110/119/129 or 61.5/72.7/77 will get you most of the regular channels. My understanding is that the others are used primarly for special international channel packages, or other special purpose channels.

I'm sure I have some (many?) details wrong. Someone will be along shortly to correct my errors... ;)

It's not that out of date. Where were you looking? See http://www.dishuser.org/satellites.php.

I was lazy. I just looked at the first page, in the "Programing" box where there is a list of links to the channels on each satellite.

I'll add a link there, though the 72list like the other channel charts hasn't been updated since September. Thanks for pointing out the oversight.

okay its up and working they had to get a higher package they had the america 120 and bronz hd. thats the lowest of all the packages.

200 on up is what was needed to add multi sport. I noticed when i was on dish site looking on adding it.

I tried adding it with their current america 120 but it wouldnt allow it.

so my dad is set. he is a college football alcoholic he has it all. ESPN gameplan, big ten etc.

I was going to say they should have been able to get the 120 Plus, but then I realized, in most of the Philly DMA, you can't add the 120 Plus, due to no RSNets in the market.
