If that's a tv you are mentioning, I don't see why not. The boxes can be set to 1080I. I have a 51 Inch Sony CRT 1080I widescreen, and it works great. I have one HR24 DVR and two H25 recivers and a slimline Swim dish.

Be sure and mention to D* if you don't have a DVI or HDMI input on your set, that way they can bring in the proper connections to connect to the component input.

Good catch, it is in fact a TV and won't be a problem....like VOS, I also assumed he was talking about an old DirecTV HD receiver.

As a matter of fact, I have an HR21-100 connected to a Toshiba 65H84 1080i RPTV with component (using the HDMI output to a second TV in an adjacent room)....picture looks great.

This is what I thought it was. Carl was saying it's for life for an existing sub.

While I did say that, it was not my intention. I apologize for any confusion. I overlooked the fact that the OP was an existing subscriber.

I would hope that you would qualify for some free upgrades since you're off contract and have been for quite some time but I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't. I have been very disappointed with the deals D* has been offering to it's faithful customers as of late.

I really was bowled over when I called to cancel my account and was put in touch with retention, instead of being treated with the respect a customer in good standing should be I was badgered and bullied by the obnoxious CSR, the guy wasted my time trying to get me to stay on with offers that clearly did not meet my stated requirements yet he kept pitching me things that were not relevant and then when I would refuse he would get brash and offensive.

So you're like your ex-buddy and don't have DirecTV service, but find it entertaining to keep bashing them?

    VOS :

Like I said I respect your views, and you indicate your displeasure about others posts in a very civil manner..so thanks.

But honestly. this is the internet age, and nowhere in the forum rules does it say you need to be a sub to participate in these discussions, of course I had D* and they dissed me, so in the internet age when a company displeases and abuses a customer this is one way to get them to pay, do you not agree.

While this is the internet and it is easy to say anything, I am not lying about my experience. It happened and I was a customer in good standing for over 2 and half years and left the account with no balance as well. I do think that gives me the ability to speak me peace about D*.

It's nice to know what "spots" you have, and sure you can keep posting, but it does seem to get a bit petty to keep at it after the initial round of venting.
"Some might" simple move on with their life and do more positive things, but "hey it's your choice".

I am listening to you VOS, not just "hearing you" .

Again thanks for being so measured in your displeasure with me. You deserve a lot of consideration because unlike a LOT of others you have been a stand up guy when interacting with me.

I know it sounds petty, but D* goosed me from start to finish and considering I spent THOUSANDS of dollars on their product, and their CSRs abused me it definitely makes me want to alert other potential subscribers about what they may potentially be in for in the long run. Of course others may have a different experience.

I believe that D* was petty in their conduct towards me, the paying customer. That should not be tolerated , but more importantly I want to give a heads up to others that might be tempted to subscribe to them.

For your sake and anothers' here I will make an effort refrain from posting too much more on it. BUT I will not say I will never post more about my experiences .

You are a good guy VOS!
